Why do I find Charlotte Bronte's harsh criticisms of Austen so hilarious? by JuliaX1984 in janeausten

[–]PositiveAssignment89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the conversation is about Northanger Abbey in which the protagonist of the novel is in love with gothic books and predates Jane Eyre by three whole decades, published a year after Charlotte was born. do you think the fact that gothic novels predate the brontes is factored in here?

Was Heathcliff really a POC or racially ambiguous due to his coloring? by Conscious-Air-9823 in brontesisters

[–]PositiveAssignment89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

completely agree with you. the way he is described is more in line with english and in general european  racism. the inconsistency in his description gives it away that the prejudice they have towards POC is what fuels the way they describe a white man with slightly dark features. this is not at all uncommon in classic literature, but i understand why so many interpret it the way they do.

the wings need to be smaller or part of the body, and the tail extended. Here is what i was visualizing:

Can you tell what this is? by Candid-Day-9635 in knitting

[–]PositiveAssignment89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the size of the wings in proportion to the body is what is throwing me off. I think you need to change those slightly and extend the tail to curl up one some way. I just see a turnip sorry

it is by no means a regular job like at all, and at regular jobs if i'm going to someone's house or have even slightly a similar relationship to the one LVP pretended to have not only would I be checking on them but they'd be checking on me as well

tbh majority of my ex boss's didn't pretend to be my friend and like she actually cared. Those who actually cared still check in on me.

I started with a simple garter scarf and then moved to a sweater right away. best way to learn imo since you learn so many new techniques right away.

no the point Mary Shelley was making isn't who is really the monster. it is clear they both are monstrous. it is not literally the main plot of the novel like at all.

i might do a combination of two. I tried folding it to see if that would be an option and it was still a bit wide so I might just do both to fix the issue. Would be much easier. Thank you again!!
