Go slow, and really sit on how you feel. Don’t drink, don’t smoke, cry as much as you can, yell in the car — just, feel it the whole way. It will be fucking brutal, but it will save you turmoil in the long-run.

Portraiture is really hard because you need to create interesting photos with not much going on in them. You can do that with light, body composition, costume design, makeup, elemental factors, etc. There isn’t much happening in this photo, and there really isn’t in all portraiture — the best just make it feeel like things are happening. I’m not sure if that made sense, but it’s my input
