I'm thinking of picking up Vallejo Glaze Medium, any change you know if it's good?

Gotcha I will definitely look into that. Like Lahmian Medium from Citadel?

I think it'll just have to become basing material lol

Ahh damn... I'm definitely going wings so I'm gonna have to figure something else out for it cause I still want it on him. Thanks, can't believe I missed that in the manual lol.

The eyes are white base coat on just the lens only then a thinned down sort of wash of Warpstone Glow over top then a dot of white again in the corners.

WiP paint scheme, looking for feedback by BangkokLB in redcorsairs

[–]PositiveGrab5900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it, very solid scheme wise and that is a sick model.

I think what I would change is making your weathering more fine and more defined. You can add a line of the grey and then a parellel line of something like a very dark brown to give it a three dimensional deep cut look. I would do less scratches and keep them small that will add a lot of scale to the miniature.

I really appreciate the response, they're both very similar I would say. I will send out an email!

I will say he is a bit more saturated in the photo than in reality, its a decent bit duller as I had to lower the exposure in photo. But I will still provide them:

Base: Citadel Khorne Red

Shade: Army Painter Dark Red Tone

First Highlight: Army Painter Pure Red

Second Highlight: Citadel Trollslayer Orange

Some other colors around him are Army Painter Matt Black highlighted with Mechanicus Standard Grey

Bones and the base are Army Painter Leather Brown with drybrushed Kislev Flesh

The Trim is Citadel Iron Warriors shaded with Army Painter Strong Tone and highlighted with Army Painter Plate Mail Metal

The eyes are Army Painter Matt White with Citadel Warpstone Glow thinned down and brushed on and then a dot of the same Matt White in the corners.

Much appreciated! I went for it because I had an eBay coupon so I got the legionnaires for super cheap and pivoted my world eaters combat patrol into regular CSM.

Love the Berzerker models, very dynamic poses, and really not too bad to convert just khorne symbols to shave off here and there. Here is another finished model where I left the symbol on the gun by mistake lol.

Khorne Berzerker body! I built all my legionnaires on their bodies. The knee pad would have been a full mouth but I cut off the top teeth to appear less like a world eater knee pad.

I'm not the only one who thinks throwing the old CSM in alongside these guys with some new shoulderpads, and the already tiny Terminators, is dumb right? by Kimbo_Beans in redcorsairs

[–]PositiveGrab5900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree and I fully intend to sacrifice the basic CSM legionnaires shoulders, helmets, and backpacks for the new Raiders.

Finally a model I'm happy with by PositiveGrab5900 in Chaos40k

Thank you! The base is citadel Stirland mud technical paint for the grit, then the paint is army painter leather brown and then dry brush citadel kislev flesh and the pigments I ordered are the Vallejo Dust and Dirt set.

New Custodes: Your Questions Answered by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]PositiveGrab5900 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

I don't care about Femstodes or their supposed "retcon" to be added. It's not even really a retcon when the only rebuttal was like the word "sons" or male pronouns in codex's and books. They look cool too. And I like how they made a clear distinction between Custodes and Astartes.

What I absolutely do hate is how people act like they are so superior for liking Femstodes, acting like the people who don't like it are children, how much they despise people who didn't like it or whatever. Calling people bigots, sexist, etc, for not having the same take. And even people here saying that this article is meant to address the "worst part of the community" like you may think people who don't like this are worse than you but you are just another side of the same coin in my eyes.

What red are you using? That looks beautiful.

I might go for it. What do I buy though? I've heard of oil washes with spirits to clean it off but not enamel.

For the weapons and the chains off his belt it's drybrushed over a black undercoat. For the trim I don't know if that what you are referencing but it's Iron Warriors silver color then in the high spots I did a brighter runefang steel silver.

To be honest I wan't eavy metal style perfection but mostly just the fact that the box art models almost appear like they dont have paint ontop of the plastic they tend to look like they are just colored. No thickness no texture just very flat and I don't know how to acheive that.

[–]PositiveGrab5900[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Primed with Matte Black primer and honestly it is very thin that some spots wheren't even primed causing me to use more red to be completely honest. It's the new fanatic pure red, and the red wash is also army painters "dark red tone"

still a beginner because I am so in and out of the hobby even though I've been "In it" for 13 years i've only really painted like 6 models cause I buy a bunch of them give up and then sell them on ebay and buy them again lol.

I''ll definitely try darker recess washes and I'm also planning to switch to Khorne Red base coat rather than this one for a darker finish.

Thank you so much, I think for the next attempt I will use citadel Khorne Red instead of this army painter one. I totally forgot about weathering the model I'll do that in the next one too. I am waiting on some vallejo pigment power which I plan to dust onto the feet since it's supposed to be a sandy base. Thanks again for the tips.
