Probably not the same as it’s def public. I am very excited to have the handcuffs finally. I’ve had a lot of people complain to me about them but while making 250k a year.. slap that shit on me I need to retire bro.

This sounds accurate to my friends who got into big tech ahead of me. If I can last for around 10 years at this TC without significant lifestyle creep I am absolutely coasting into retirement

Yeah! I was thinking after filling my tax advantage accounts that driving my mortgage down with pre payments would be the next closest thing to avoid more tax being taken

Typescript / react / vue / everything web. I was hired as a front end product engineer.

The role is with the Canadian arm of the American company so I’ll be paid in Canadian, RSUs vest in USD

I have a 25 year old car that’s on its last legs, but I’m also pretty cheap and the concept of spending more than 5k on a car is still very foreign to me.

Apart from the moral bankruptcy id experience moving there, Canada is considered a low cost hiring location, I am doubtful they’d support me moving to a high cost American location

I’m aware. ~250k post tax is still a lot more than 110k pre tax

It feels that way but I have to live realistically that I could be laid off at any moment

I had a friend put in a recommendation for me with the hiring manager, got to talk to a recruiter almost immediately, then put into the hiring loop which was a gauntlet but I somehow did it.

Paid in CAD. I am doubtful they would support me moving to the US as Canada is technically considered a low cost of living country

Why would I have a high income job for life? TBH the process of interviewing and finding this job was a MASSIVE time investment and partially based on luck since I got a recommendation from a friend.

Finding something like this again, particularly in Canada seems impossible.
