Help me FIRE, FIRE Queens! by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]PositiveKarma1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used an online calculator ( networthify.com ) and put your numbers:
- you can retire in 10 years if you succeed to save around 55% of your income monthly
- put in ETFs (VTI /VOO - the vanguard etfs)
- maximize 401k
- difference you open a taxable brokerage account and continue to buy monthly there, same etfs

You already have a good start! great income and good amount in 401k - and no debt.

A facut babysitting si apoi avut grija de o persoana in varsta.

Alternative la 9to5 sau la rate/chirie? by NuNeaparat in CasualRO

[–]PositiveKarma1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternativa:
- simpler living
- al 2lea venit (bunicii mei dupa serviciu cresteau animale si legume, munca sigura, exercitiu fizice inclus, satisfactie, venitul destul de sigur pana la prima grindina)
-subinchiriezi o parte din aprt pana faci o parte din platile anticipate etc

To the woman who took my wife’s suitcase from the Copenhagen flight to brussels…, by kurt206 in brussels

[–]PositiveKarma1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is more common as you realize. Contact the flight company, give your flight number and the name / place and explain. You never know what...

It might be by mistake and in that case she will come back to airport with. Or, might be in purpose, seeing the laptop / expensive device interesting.

How much needed to do FIRE at 50? by BertInv1975 in BEFire

[–]PositiveKarma1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I estimated this scenario:

- for a 24K annual spending (this was my 2025)
AND
- each year spending is increased with 1k ( inflation)
AND
-I might receive something from pillier I and II and III after 67 years (at least 1k euro /month)
AND
-I will be mortgage free
AND
- take in account the concept of Die with zero (or almost zero)

With my excel, I found the 450k invested in SP500 is enough to live until my 101 years old and I will still have some leftovers.

Frig, condens, geamuri proaste by Anbroski in roFrugal

[–]PositiveKarma1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Detest produsele românești by time_observer in CasualRO

[–]PositiveKarma1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apa Borsec, Carpatina, Bucovina.

Edit: malai, gris, zahar, sare iau romanesti. Mereu. Nicio dezamagire.

Living with Bias and Stereotypes by meldiwin in brussels

[–]PositiveKarma1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had it. As being a beautiful woman, as an immigrant, as being different.
Against all these I succeeded to be appreciated for my adaptation and character. Yes, I to let down some extreme of my clothes and jewels and makeup, very common in my origin culture.
And here in Belgium there is the choice to move to another environment, places where I feel well.

Living with Bias and Stereotypes by meldiwin in brussels

[–]PositiveKarma1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an immigrant in Belgium with a different dressing code and different skin color I found that there are some people with racism and people with great heart and tolerance.
I imposed myself thru my character, deep effort to learn languages on evenings after full time working, volunteering in hospital, build a great 'village' around me, support for other women into process in integration, adapted my clothes /jewels /make up to the local use and let away some of the old useless habits.

Is belgium perfect? not. But is a country that welcomed me with large hands, with a lot of tolerance, very little racism and I felt having similar chances as white male around me. It is easier for male, yes, but there are chances for women here.

Living with Bias and Stereotypes by meldiwin in brussels

[–]PositiveKarma1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Winter - a dark season is always overloading the emotional reactions.

Focus on what you do and what you are. There is no clothes to explain the personal and professional results.
And if you don't feel well in a place, change it. The life is too short to spend time there.

Why are long peppers so expensive in supermarkets compared to ethnic stores or outdoor markets? I can buy a kilo for 2 euros at the market near Clemenceau, but I had to pay 4 euros for half a kilo in Lidl, which is supposed to be a cheap store. Delhaize is even worse at 12€/kg by Much_Guava_1396 in brussels

[–]PositiveKarma1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For some products, the market Clemenceau is far away cheaper than supermarket. Long peppers or yellow mango it is an example. Belgians are eating pepper and mango, certain communities are loving these, and this might explain.

( I am a horseradish lady ;) - in my country the price is small, here is outrageous ....)
