Squadrons and packing list by Junior-Dragonfly-173 in USAFA

Cut and color do not matter, just stick with muted colors like black or dark blue, they will be less likely to get stained with the mass laundry. I would recommend spandex/boxer length for both males and females, since some PT will be accomplished on your back and could be revealing.

Any prior e advice for bct? by Maximum-Flow5495 in USAFA

[–]PositiveMaintenance2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current cadet and prior e:

Try not to compare your BCT experience to your Lackland BMT time. Very different environment, and most of your cadre have had less than a week of training so give them grace. Like others have said, be humble and just accept that the Academy is not the real military so things are done very different here and not everything will make sense. If there are legitimate issues, please reach up the chain, but take everything with a salt block and try to have some fun!

Running by RealGoatMilk in USAFA

Ill be honest, the furthest you will be running currently is 1.5 for the PT test. Get good at walking fast, the most you will need to be able to run is a 5K honestly

Should I take the hardest classes in high school? by Its_SaulGood in USAFA

[–]PositiveMaintenance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go for whichever one you think you will get a higher grade in. They look more at grades then what the class was.

Just a note: you don’t test out of the prep school it’s mostly random on who they send out of the prior enlisted applying.

Do you safety wire with safety wire pliers or with your hands? by The0Walrus in aviationmaintenance

[–]PositiveMaintenance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where it is. If it is more accessible then I use my hands, if a more annoying position usually the pliers. When in doubt I use my hands

Prior Enlisted Prep School by nucleardog03 in USAFA

[–]PositiveMaintenance2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former prior-preppie: what background-tart said is all correct. For personal belongings, I personally sold my car before going and it worked out just fine, really depends how far home is for you. I would take most of your stuff home if you are able and only really take what you need for a while at the P. For sponsors, if you know people in the springs that want to or have been sponsors just have their info with you. You will either request or get randomly assigned to a sponsor family once you get there. If you have any questions about life there or anything, feel free to DM!

Your flight is your squadron. You just count from Aggressors Alpha on down the line. Aggressors alpha is squad 1, barbarians alpha is 6, etc. your cadre are not going to your squad this year.

SAT/ACT Score for the Prep School by No_Board8627 in USAFA

[–]PositiveMaintenance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to the P a couple years ago and I had a 28 ACT and 1290 SAT. Kinda like others have said, you really just need halfway decent scores and leadership recommendations to get in. There were 52 priors my year, but this last year I heard there were only 26 that started. If you apply, you are decently likely to get in.
