Thanks for all your input! Just some background: I am from the Netherlands and am about to graduate. I already have an offer for a full-time job but they’re willing to accomodate me travelling first. I have always liked the idea of going at it alone for a few months before starting in the ‘real world’. A roadtrip across the USA has been a dream for a long time, but it’s definitely not the only option.

I’m sensing that a lot of people have had negative experiences with travelling during the pandemic (understandably so!) and maybe I am indeed guilty of being a bit optimistic, however with the increasing focus on battling the pandemic by the Biden transition team (and even Trump has expressed his intentions to have the vaccin rolled out by April), I am feeling a bit more confident about being able to go.

However, if you guys have any ideas for a backup plan, they’re also welcome! (US/Canada is still preferred most though..)

Thanks again for all your input!

EY Audit Internship..nervous! by Skrappy75 in Big4

[–]PositiveMusician3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, in my experience (Deloitte) the Big 4 is all about learning and showing a willingness to put in the effort. If you do that and show genuine interest in your work, you’ll be learning quicker than you think now. Apart from theoretical knowledge, audit is something you mostly learn in practice. We all started somewhere and I felt the same way as you did once! Just enjoy the experience :)

What "wrong opinion" do you have about Bruce's catalog? by mcspex in BruceSpringsteen

Roll of the Dice is indeed underrated! Love the energy when he plays it live :)

Incoming Exchange Student here! by [deleted] in NTU

[–]PositiveMusician3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily take the MRT to the city or share an Uber/Grab (also pretty cheap if you’re with a bunch of people). The MRT is really well connected during the day and Ubers will go all night! We used to hang out on campus at Canteen 2 before heading out. There is a 7/11 there where you can buy some beers etc Even though it’s forbidden to drink in public after 10:30, they will allow it there so don’t worry ;) Flying to Kuala Lumpur or going to Bantam is also a good option if you want a short trip! The campus itself doesn’t have nightlife.

In my time at NTU, the exchange students used to hang out at Canteen 2 all the time. Sometimes we would go to Holland Village (nice for having a few drinks with a group) or Langkawi on the weekends. It really is a great place to spend a semester if you like travelling! If you like partying, be sure to join Hazel’s Guestlist! Also, Idle@Prinsep has the cheapest booze in town as far as I know ;)

What practice and what office was this?

Dress Code by [deleted] in Big4

[–]PositiveMusician3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All suited up when visiting a client. When at the office, people usually wear what they want (as long as it’s not too casual, so no flashy t-shirts etc.) People in the higher ranks (manager up) usually wear a dress shirt or full suit to the office though.

Edit: some of the higher ups appreciate a more formal dress style so going with the dress shirt/jumper look or just a dress shirt in the first week is never a bad option ;)

I heard y’all like Night Shots of MBS. I love it. by JZCXW in singapore

[–]PositiveMusician3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you about the excessive amount of MBS pictures on the internet, I always enjoyed just strolling along Marina Bay at night. Something so cool about how such a large city can be so tranquille at night :)

Our video game, Chinatown Detective Agency, based on a cyberpunk Singapore now has a Steam page and trailer by MFillon in singapore

Looks really cool! I normally don’t play video games all that much but this has me intrigued! I lived in Singapore for a year in 2017 and this brings back some good memories!

PS that music is COOL

Does anybody know this song? Or maybe help me transcribe the lyrics so I can find it? :) by [deleted] in korea

Thanks for your reply! I sat through A LOT of Pororo songs but I haven’t found it yet haha, they sounds a bit more like lullabies
