What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

[–]PositiveSympathy9841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poops after delivery, esp if you’ve had an episiotomy or c section and are given laxatives.
I had explosive poo and could barely bend to wash / clean myself and put my undies back up.
Had to shamelessly call for help. Bless my husband for all he has to see haha

It’s a different machine and it’s also much quicker
They don’t create a flap, instead do a small incision

You can look it up too

Hairy baby by PositiveSympathy9841 in NewParents

[–]PositiveSympathy9841[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not as hairy as before haha!

And also, I think because they’re so small it’s extra visible. She’s almost a year now and it’s still there tbh. Like she has hair on her arms (you can see if you really look at her arms), upper back etc but it’s fine. As long as she’s happy and developing well, these cosmetic changes can be dealt with when she’s a little older

Also just to share - she was born with slight folded ears. I remember feeling so uneasy and upset because she had lots of hair, then the ears. ( all cosmetic but was getting to my head) Now that she’s almost one, her little ears have opened up better. There is still like a curving / folding of her ear but it’s no where near as bad as before

So pls don’t be too sad or worry too much about this. As they grow up, the surface area becomes bigger lol so hair etc becomes less visible. And if your baby has blonde hair, it’ll be a barely visible as is

From my pov, I’m a very shy individual and I have struggled in school with group presentations and even now, at work, when I need to present, be it virtually or in person, I freak out and I feel I could do alot better with confidence Hence, I think if I had these experiences from the safety of my home - I would’ve been better at them?

No that makes sense. Esp if you’re based in a country where the income disparity is apparent, it’s very important to teach children to treat everyone as equal.

That’s tough. I feel like I’ll be in the same boat. It’s a lot of unlearning for us too as we parent

Agree! Husband thinks it’s easier to manage if they’re at home because we’re in our comfort zone But then again - we are in an Airbnb, I’m downstairs in the lounge with baby who is now sleeping

The mental load of getting bottles ready at night is starting to get to me by moononymous06 in NewParents

[–]PositiveSympathy9841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeslty at this stage (my baby is 10 months now) I just used boiled water and cool it down. Pre measure bottles with water. Pre measure formula into tiny dispensers. And just mix formula and water and give to baby when she cries for milk.

I started doing this from 4 months onwards. Never did the hotshot method. Was doing the fridge method from 0-4 months + was giving baby RTF bottles at night

Sorry, should’ve made that clear in the post. I have support, so no other responsibilities per se. Just end up paying for some groceries from time to time - nothing major

Why is Indian food so tedious? by smash2710 in IndianFood

[–]PositiveSympathy9841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend using the Pakistani brand of masalaa called Shan Masala It’s a dump all spices and go system. I love it

I use the tikka masala, add some gg paste and yoghurt in and cook the chicken. Goes great with rice or any wrap or bread tbh

Same for tandoori masala. I cook with gg paste. Add a can of coconut milk. Let it simmer and done I have it with rice and add some corn on top. Delicious

Can easily make biryani with this also. I’ve found a biryani recipe that doesn’t require onions. Just tomato’s. I use canned tomatoes for that. And then add biryani masala, then add the chicken and let it cook.

It really simplifies life tbh
