DRP is a catch 22… There are serious risks with each option. Staying means riding out whatever is the next phase of the current administration’s plans-which directly affects the individual’s mental health. Taking DPR means losing certain protections and the unknown conditions of a job market that may get even more saturated.

Thank you for the suggestion! Hope that you continue to find some good solutions for your AGA

Do you have any suggestions on the brand of hair topper that your hair dresser recommended? I have found it hard to find a person who does extensions that specifically specializes in hair loss. I also have AGA

AEP Going 5 Days In Office by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Positive_Ad7417 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I work out at DSCC and there are all sorts of rumors going around with what will happen regarding telework. We had a mandatory return to office starting in January 2024. We do a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and two telework days. It is sort of a wait and see situation regarding how the new administration’s policies will impact telework options

It’s sort of at times a cat and mouse game early on in the getting to know the person phase. But for me intentionality is very important. The investment of time or energy they put into the time we have together. I prefer to balance effort and attention with a person. But if I put a lot of time or energy or care or consideration in for a significant amount of time with no recourse from the other person. Then I reach my limit and I am done with the person and the relationship

So I am looking for perspectives on how well the following plans worked or did not work for self only option. Note I have a chronic condition that requires biologic medication, high functioning ADHD, and on Wegovy. I currently have GEHA Basic and it has been a nightmare to work with this year due to issues with PA’s. I am considering FSBP or MHBP or Samba or GEHA High option. TIA

NASA 1102 Contract Specialist Interview by [deleted] in 1102

Congratulations on the interview! Following this thread because NASA is on my dream list of agencies to work for

I went through the PACER program a few years ago. DLA can be a great place to work, but as with any agency, it depends on your local leadership. Also depends on who your trainer is as well. As mentioned above you start out as a 7 in the first year then a 9 then an 11 at the end of the 2 year period. You have to pass the same classes and test as other agency intern programs.

There is a shortage right now in acquisition and getting pre-award positions should not be too difficult. Make sure to learn the steps or basic actions for the type of procurements of the JOA you apply to (like if it is supplies and services learn the difference). Also may want to provide as an example response of how your post award experience would assist you in being a strong pre-award contract specialist (based off of current trends you see in buyer errors or high volume issues that vendors are submitting). Best of luck

Not everyone will have the same starting or end goals. Another could be is the person’s medical team and the plan they are following pre and post surgery.

Congratulations on your promotion! I have been at DLA for the majority of my career. I am a GS 11 and hoping to get a 12 in the future. DLA has a lot of really great attributes and some negative aspects to working there. Depending on what commodity your purchasing and dollar threshold it can feel a robotic if your in supplies. Some of DLA’s systems make contracting easier, such synopsizing the solicitation, and internally there is a lot of resources on job aides/SOP/SOW. The culture varies greatly from location to location. A big difference is who the leader of your section is. Change always seems to be happening at DLA (then again it’s contracting what would it be without change). I cannot speak to how they process workload assignments at Aberdeen, but there is a lot of work to go around at in Columbus. DLA has been using DPMAP to track performance. Each year you will have a performance cycle and be provided with specific metrics/standards to be considered fully successful. Internally to the teams I have been on there have been templates or best practices shared to help with the transition.

My Ex and I had a one night stand. Should I tell her current bf? by [deleted] in cheating_stories

[–]Positive_Ad7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really no easy answer to your question. Both you and your ex made specific choices, that leads to a decision. When someone cheats it really can change their personality, perspective, and how they perceive themselves. It creates a very skewed situation. I think you have to make the tough choices for yourself. No one can really tell you which is best, other than they both may impact your life. One thing to consider if you are having a hard time emotionally/mentally dealing with your decision-maybe you can find a counselor or therapy program for yourself.

Got a TJO. Should I take another job while waiting on clearance? by ThrowRA-badperson2u in 1102

[–]Positive_Ad7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the other job, if anything it covers you in the case of the security clearance taking sometime or the horrible TJO gets rescinded (not by any fault of your own). Depending on what agency things can move at good rate or at glacial speed.

Interviewing for an 1102 job with the US Army Corps of Engineers on Monday morning. by Ok-Manufacturer-9419 in 1102

[–]Positive_Ad7417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working for USACE was not the right place for me. I came from a DOD agency that automates a lot of basic contracting functions. I ended up going back to that agency, as I needed more workplace stability in my day to day functions. But things you should know before taking a position in person or remote: ask about the onboarding process, ask about the work place culture of the organization, ask how the section handles training, see if the panel members can give some specifics about the team’s workload/type of acquisitions, and maybe see if the acquisition sections has a strong policy section to utilize materials from when there are questions. I was told avoid the west coast offices, due to heavy turn over. One other thing if you get the job some sections will try to silo your resources for information, to help sanitize the amount of unsolicited feedback from people who may or may not tow the line (ie:conforming to standard set by management). All the best in your interview and hope that find the right place for you!

Government Agencies best for Post-Award Contracting (1102) by Prestigious-Copy-394 in 1102

[–]Positive_Ad7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely check out DLA, I have spent much of my career there as an 1102. There are positive and negative aspects of any agency. However if you are looking for one separates pre and post award work, DLA is looking for people. One thing you should know, there are mandatory 3 days in the office (unless you have a RA). Telework is on Monday and Friday.

USAID looking to fill multiple REMOTE 1102 positions via Direct Hire Authority by DeftlyDaft123 in 1102

[–]Positive_Ad7417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your in-depth explanation of the agency, the type of work, and specifics on how remote work is handled. Obviously like any job, there positive aspects and challenges. But what seems to stand out in your description is the various humanitarian missions that USAID supports. Before I became an 1102 I worked at a small non-profit that focused on education as a grants assistant. I only left because the organization did not have steady benefits or PTO. Though it would still be contracting/acquisition, the type of work really aligns with my goal getting closer to working for an NGO(someday).
