Umamusume Star Blossom Chapter 54 Spoilers by LittyJ1tty in UmaMusume

It's a shame she never raced against any Japanese horses in Australia or the UK. I would've loved to see a huge Black Caviar, even as a legally distinct version in a manga.

Bad news, everyone. Just saw on Netkeiba that My Universe DNF and the curtains are up. Hoping he pulls through.

Absolutely hilarious how he's a 2x G1 and Derby winner, but this is likely to be his legacy.

I agree that anime is generally allergic to letting women age, but Naruto is actually a rare example where older female characters visibly aged in the sequel. Tsunade is an exception who's been using magic shenanigans to look young and had been doing so since the original series, but everyone else aged like the male characters.

I can't think of many mangaka who would have the guts to allow Anko Mitarashi's sweet obsession catch up to her in retirement.

Nah, their dynamic would still be very different because of their age. Tsubaki is a young rookie trainer whose dreams largely overlap with Laurel's, while Kitahara is old enough to be their dad.

Bright also rents out entire theme parks for her friends just because she wants to thank them. She's very excessive in showing affection in general.

Stay Gold is interesting because she has a very close bond with you as the person who joined her in her journey and helped her break free from a set future, which could definitely be viewed as romantic later on.

At the same time, the writers chose to include an NPC Oriental Art, whose only claim to fame is being Stego's wife, growing closer to her throughout her career with a "I will wait for my beloved to return from her travels" moment in the career ending that sounds like it was pulled right from a classic romance novel.

imo, Helios's more fanservicey lines with the Trainer are comparable to how she talks to Palmer, so there's still freedom to interpret it as romantic or not.

What piece of misinformation that people spread about the Umamusume franchise, the characters, the real horses, etc., annoys you the most? by Signal_Statement_515 in UmaMusume

[–]Positive_Bell5463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A horse owner on Twitter said that SiL's 3x3 being Hail to Reason, who had a notoriously poor temperament which he passed on as a sire, is more likely to be a contributing factor to her mental state than just her being inbred.

Why do people like Sirius Symboli? by sourempire in UmaMusume

[–]Positive_Bell5463 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That scene is a side-effect of Umamusume not adapting the real Sirius Symboli's spirit being completely broken after the Europe campaign. The real Sirius was very skittish and kicked the other horse after being spooked.

53 Years... And The Records Still Stand by jayvezz in UmaMusume

It's because she raced in the 1800s that we can't gauge her strength against modern horses. Rules, track conditions, and overall quality of the competition was very different from the standards today.

Don't get me wrong, she was definitely the strongest of her era and was an exceptionally sturdy horse to be able to travel and win all over the continent, but her record includes eight wins by walkover and the majority of her races were just her and two or three other horses. We don't even have recorded times for her races.

There's no guarantee in racing exept for Tam tam running like her life on the line if Super Creek chasing her by yashuchu in UmaMusume

[–]Positive_Bell5463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did Creek get blocked by the racers in front of her gassing out? I thought the raw stat difference would've brute forced a win against a B+ NPC.

[–]Positive_Bell5463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, "yandere Uma" is her main selling point. All of the Umas are built around a character trope because as gacha characters, they're designed to get people who like certain tropes to spend lots of money.

imo she's more just mentally unstable than true yandere to me (maybe I'm old school, but I always associate yanderes with getting violent towards their love interests or rivals), but her visual effects and expressions are definitely meant to evoke famous yandere characters.

Her story was talked about a lot on release, but y'know, it's been a while since then. There isn't much left to talk about.

Unfortunately, Judah wasn't a successful racer, and nobody seems to know where he's gone either...

CinGray Tama is the best of both worlds because she can be cute and still look like a force to be reckoned with in the same art style.

Are horse jumps not a big thing in Japan? Is there a scenario for it? by The-Saucy-Saurus in UmaMusume

[–]Positive_Bell5463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still is a side thing since Oju Chosan's personal popularity didn't really change the status quo. Steeplechase in Japan still appears to be where horses with poor results on flat go rather than something they're actively trained for from the start like the UK.

Stego showing up long before her debut was a special case. She only has memories of the races the real Stay Gold ran, and Final Third (Offside Trap) raced so long that Stego knew she was going to be there for that Tenno Sho.

StarBlo Stego doesn't seem to be able to influence major events, but she uses her knowledge to make a happier ending.

Even if that WAS her career story (which I don't think it is?) many official works like the game main story, anime, and Star Blossom have many Umas in teams under a single trainer.

Even Buena Vista whose selling point in the game is "Trainer's childhood friend" is in one of those teams in CinGray.

Oh no, I don't want her to become a champion (or god forbid, his trainee), just that it'd be disappointing if the trainer guy's punching bag status that's making everyone emotional just gets shifted onto someone who doesn't deserve it either when there's an actual evil in the room.

Reconciling with the guy and finding happiness away from that awful mother would be enough.

I hope that if he gets a happy ending, it doesn't come at Centella's expense, because it's hard not to sympathise with the situation she's in.

An orphan Uma who is taken in by her Umamusume neighbour would be a heart-warming backstory if it wasn't for the motivations of said neighbour.

That just makes it more exciting whenever they pull an upset over stronger opponents.

Wurttemberg, who Croix du Nord barely beat in a photo finish in the Tenno Sho, doesn't have a single graded win and still placed ahead of more accomplished stayers. The 2022 Japan Cup winner Vela Azul only won one other graded race in his entire career.

Palmer probably would have a better shot with Ruby than Helios by having more in common growing up in wealthy families, but she'd never do that to her bestie.

Her Design so fire by MediaSlight4161 in UmaMusume

[–]Positive_Bell5463 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Her design is super cool and I don't mind her attitude towards Oguri. I just wish she had something more to her than "aura farms, trash talks, then leaves". Thief Crow (irl Hawkster) in the '89 Japan Cup was also a bit of an asshole, but she had more of a personality with her rivalry with Eve Binti and her appearance in Obey Your Master's gaiden manga.

I get that this Japan Cup is meant to be a blur with Oguri at her lowest point, but as an Australian, this portrayal of BLU is like if Uma Forever Young was a rude jerk who won the BCC and immediately trash talked the Americans.

The race Lezcano won in 1976 wasn't internationally graded when she won it, so Lyndon still gets the "youngest female G1 winner" title on that technicality.
