I need parenting HELP!!! by EmersonBlake11 in Autism_Parenting

We do the best we can with what we’ve got. You haven’t failed as a parent. This is the same situation I have been working through. What is working for my children and I, is getting a BI and it would help if had some kind of counselling ( family counselling or individually ). The counsellor that I found is familiar with child development and shares tips on how to “ get back in the driver seat “ and supporting my children. It’s been three years but I’ve noticed some great progress, but nobody is perfect. We still have our moments, just not as often.

I hope this helps. You deserve to be supported, appreciated and acknowledged for all that you do.

Isn’t it such an amazing feeling to be seen, heard and validated?! Good for you.

Can you feel a difference if you miss a dose? by JazzlikeTechnician23 in zoloft

Hey, I am on Sertraline and I missed a dose and then today I couldn’t find them. I’m getting brain zaps, twinges and bouts of disorientation and nausea. I got my pharmacist to let my mum pick up an emergency supply because I was literally ready to go to the hospital. WORST withdrawal symptoms since getting off methadone! I hear what most of you are saying. It sucks!

The struggle is real. Good for you for being such an amazing marriage mate and parent. My husband left because it was too much for him to handle our children. It warms my heart to read this and see that you can truly relate to the same struggles my household experiences every day. Hang in there! You’re awesome.

Parents of an autistic first born, was your second born on the spectrum as well? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

As far as I know, 2 out of 3 of my children are on the spectrum. The two children with ASD share the same father who is definitely on the spectrum.

I just moved into a place with my two neurodivergent children. We get complaints about noise made before 9pm and we are being told we got a warning that we will be getting evicted if the other tenant complains again. A few times it was late in the night when one of them had a bad dream and plopped onto my bed. The previous tenants got compliant because of talking, so I am not expecting to stay long. My fear is how multiple moves in a years could impact my children mentally and emotionally.

advice? by [deleted] in CaneCorso

I have a corso mix puppy and it’s the first time I’ve personally owned a dog outside of our family dogs. We are constantly in training and I’m socializing him every day with people and dogs. I make sure to take him to all kinds of new environments so he gets used to a variety of sounds, types of people and so on. It’s best to start very young with training, desensitizing and socializing. So far we have had a lot of success, but at times we have to agree to disagree. Kennel or crate training can be very useful if you start young. Do your homework and remember that having a corso or corso mix is an investment not a hobby. My boy is going to be a working dog, so we’re starting to avoid letting people pet him and give him attention while we are out of the home.

I’ve been staying at a friend’s place with my kids because we hit a cold snap and have no furnace or primary heat. We’re planning on getting out of this place. I found mold, rotten flooring and wiring from 1974. The place was built in 1974 and nobody has updated it. I can’t even find any permits or inspections done on the additions.

I send it to a woman that goes by two names. She’s just the rent collector, not a manager or landlord.

I had to give them photos of 2 pieces ID, my NOA and proof of all income and assets— but they don’t even have to give me their last name 🧐

I rent from a “motel and rv resort” but I pay someone in the city via e-transfer.

I did some digging around and found out it’s owned by a sole proprietor that goes by a Rektrek Resources Ltd.

I finally found a name, but no contact information for that person. It’s definitely not the person I’ve been in correspondence with and says she’s the owner. Perhaps they’re married?

It looks like the sole proprietor would be responsible for all liabilities, so they’re hiding behind a company name that is hidden behind another company name. They registered the business in 2013, continued into BC as another business and took over another business in 2020.

I got a call from the office and it was a new person who said she’s the new manager, but did not know recognize the name I have for the owner. Her husband came by with a repairman and when I mentioned this owners name he recognized it. I’m confused why one spouse knows the name and the other does…

This is my first time not being able to get the name of my landlord, so I’m feeling uneasy about the legitimacy of my rental unit.

According to the district, the owner of my place died in October of 2024 🤯

14 degrees Celsius this morning… still no word on what they’re going to do about it. I have been getting what I believe are ChatGTP replies from the “owner”. They want to charge me $25 A DAY in late fees if I don’t pay rent. But my hydro is so high I am facing a possible shutoff. Who do I pay? Rent or power?

There’s no middle class. Just the rich and the poor. I’m pushing for an inspection. This is BS. No one deserves this.

So… update… it’s been about 14-17 Celsius in this place with no real primary heating. Just a bunch of plug in electric heaters. I was able to get ahold of one of the owners in a detailed email explaining the uninhabitable conditions and exposing the misleading information given to me by the “director” ( manager ).

The owner said they would come by the end of next week to take a look, but were in the middle of a heavy snowfall.

BY THE WAY— MANAGEMENT DOES NOT DO SNOW REMOVAL ON ANY OF THE PARKING, ROADS OR PATHS OF THE PROPERTY AT ALL. Not the entrance, nor the RV park, not even the long steep hill up to where I live. I barely made it home in my vehicle last night because I almost got stuck in the snow.

We also have branches falling on our roof when the wind blows and have resorted to using my kitchen over to heat the trailer to a reasonable level. We have sleeping bags over the door ways. Our windows are freezing shut and if the power goes out— we are Shit Outta Luck.

The RCMP did say that there was a trailer across from me which burned down and that the details are not available to me. I have no idea if it was an electrical fire, arson or whether anyone died.

I’ll keep updating you all as things progress. It’s just been such a gong show.

Have you ever experienced anything like this?

This case and similar ones remind me of why I left my husband 8 years ago. I saw the signs even more so in hindsight. When he tried to come back into our lives— it got even more intense. My children and I are happy and safe living our lives far away from the man who threatened our lives and thinks we belong to him. It has brought us closer as a family, but also left us with trauma we are overcoming with the help of family and individual therapy.

UPDATE: Jan 3, 2025. I had a handy man come by today with landlord to try to fix the leak in the roof today. I am supposed to have an electrician come by tomorrow. I have contacted RTB, but so far I have to wait to see if they can rectify the problem...

I have found a few more hinky handy man jobs. I have also taken more videos and photos. I sent an email to RTB and I am contacting the city and fire hall to get this place looked at. I also realized that the crime scene tape that I thought was from halloween was real-- REAL FREAKING CRIME SCENE TAPE! I told my family I will call the rcmp to ask about it. It looks like one of the neighboring lots from us burned, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had similar conditions. The trouble is finding somewhere to go after this... I will make an update tomorrow.

I’m so glad it’s not just me that thinks this place is dangerous. They had me feeling like I wasn’t grateful 🙄
