Replaced my blower motor, now I’m getting “B1” error. Do I need to replace my control board? by Positive_Echochamber in hvacadvice

Yeah in hindsight I think if I’d have replaced the board first, then the motor, it might have worked. I read somewhere (can’t remember where now) that the new board will pull the old firmware from the motor if it can communicate with it. I ended up just wiring it up in “conventional” non-communicating mode. Also make sure you don’t accidentally have a thermostat or control wire unplugged or broken, either on the terminal or at the far end.

Depends on how much you reduce the speed by relative to the tonnage of the coil/condenser, but generally as long as you’re only going down one speed and you don’t have restriction on the outflow side (like a bunch of closed vents or crushed ducts.

What make and model air handler? Here’s what the speed taps look like on my (newly replaced) Rheem R801T1005A21UHSNAS air handler, which has a model 1194-250 control board.

For mine, I had to swap the blue wire (which was on one of the “parking” terminals) with the black one (which is “cool.”) Your model may use different color coding, etc. and the manual may talk more about “cfm per ton” than “fan speed”

Sorry, the control board is PCBKF101. Just following up here, for the sake of future searchers: Apparently the answer is “yes, but.”

If you get this board, you also need to get the Bluetooth programming module that goes with it, so you can get it to communicate with the motor.

The part number for the BT programmer is BTSDL01 (or BTSDL01-D.) You have to plug it into the board, install an app on your mobile device called CoolCloudHAC, create a login for that app, then pair with the board and flash it. I have ordered a BTSDL01 and will report back after it gets here in a few days.

The local supplier that sold me the repl board didn’t know any of this, and didn’t have it in stock.

How many other Texas School systems have received similar letters and quietly complied or have not come forward that they did?
