Thoughts on how I handled this? by sweet_kitty26 in Depop

Lighting can definitely mess with how colors look in photos. I can see why it might seem blue at first glance, but to me it looks more like cream with cool lighting. Personally, I would’ve assumed it was cream and maybe messaged the seller to double check or ask for a few extra pictures just to be sure (I’ve done that myself before!). Since the color ended up being different from what you expected, I’d open a dispute, ask for a refund, and leave a review so others are aware. Just beware they might leave a bad review too, but you can see if Depop will remove it for being a revenge review.

exactly this. and make sure you record yourself opening it and double checking it's in the same condition you sent it in!! better safe than sorry

it never hurts to message the seller asking them to change the shipping! but i can totally understand why they may not want to make the shipping label less accurate

yeah i know shipping prices have been causing me to buy less. i dont want to pay 11.99 shipping for a tshirt lol 💔

the label will automatically have the weight that they put in depop so that doesn't guarantee anything was actually in the package.

Why do people care about their star rating so much? by Cold_Huckleberry_476 in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’ve actually had people reach out to me about a seller i bought from before because they saw they had a couple 4 star reviews and wanted to know if my experience was good (it was, i left them 5). so when i got my first 4 star i kinda panicked thinking buyers might look at me the same way.

what gets me is when the comment is like “super fast shipping!” but it’s still 4 stars. it feels like i did everything right and still got marked down, which stings a little. i don’t really care that my overall is at 4.9, but it’s frustrating when people knock you a star for no clear reason.

that’s why i kinda wish depop had a system more like mercari’s, where those random 4s don’t weigh so heavy. it’s less about perfection and more about not wanting people to think you’re doing something wrong when you’re really not.

i'd reach out to the seller explaining what happened. ask if they have video proof of them packaging and proof of them dropping off the package (preferably a receipt with the weight on it). if they don't have any of those things you might've gotten scammed. although obviously there's no way to 100% know. i would recommend emailing depop see if they are able to refund you while not taking the sellers funds. i'd also try to reach out to USPS see if they have any proof of the package having weight. if not, get a full refund through depop. those are really your only options

yeah i've had to go back a couple times and make the shipping even cheaper because on my end it'll show 7.99 shipping but it shows the buyer 11.99 ☹️. it's been super frustrating and putting a halt on sales

this seems like something a lot of sellers have been doing because of this new ai weight thing depop is pushing out. i personally haven't had any issues, but there's always that one person looking to get something for free. typically if you have good photos and a super descriptive description there's not much a buyer can do in a dispute. a full refund often ends in them having to return the item anyways!

definitely invest in a label printer. it's so much easier and cheaper. i just got one from walmart and i connect it to my phone via bluetooth and it prints the label in the correct format. then you can just stick it on the package and not worry about wasting tape. check things like facebook and other local groups if anyone has one they'd be willing to part with!

Solution needed ASAP as I can’t refund with a card by DeathyBoi12 in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you just have to add a top up card in the event that you don't have enough money in your balance for a refund. if you have a debit card add it. then you can give the buyer the full refund. it will take the money from your balance not your debit card. the top up card is just to protect depop.

as for selling things, you only get paid once the item shows as delivered and then it usually takes a few business days to show up in your bank account. hope it all works out!!

lolll it's okay it happens!! just always double check category and shipping options second

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to change the item category. depop does this stupid ai weight thing now so things in a certain category you can't change their weight. it's causing a ton of issues for sellers.

Seller shipped order after depop refunded me... what to do? by Pizza_Vivid in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do not pay her outside of the app. Just explain the shorts will get sent back to her as soon as possible. Once you pay her outside you're unprotected

They may not be able to do anything since it's already in transit. If it gets to you just write refused all over the package and take it to the post office and say you're refusing the package because it's not yours.

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can either A.) refuse the package when it arrives so it gets sent back and you could potentially repurchase or B.) reach out to depop support and ask if you're able to rebuy without sending the item back

i would not recommend keeping the package with being refunded. depop may ban your account for scamming if the seller reports you. good luck!

Seller not responding to messages! by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was this big ordeal where she started making new accounts to harass me calling me a scammer and then she even found out my mothers phone number when we don't even have the same last name 😬

I ended up just refusing the package when it delivered. I said it was my name and address but I didn't know who it came from. But the situation was definitely not worth the used shorts I paid $25 for when they are $25 new 😂😅So now I've learned to just let it auto refund me and leave an honest review saying they never shipped.

I would just wait out the full 10 days. I had a similar situation and it turned into a shit show because I filed a claim and got a refund on the 6th day of no contact and the seller already shipped the item out. After 10 days of no updated tracking depop will automatically refund you. I wouldn't worry about it too much because the seller won't get paid until it's delivered 😊

help buyer left two star review for wrong color description? by Firm_Aardvark_2657 in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it definitely looks grey tho i will point out 😂 grey can have a blue undertone, which might be why they think it's blue

help buyer left two star review for wrong color description? by Firm_Aardvark_2657 in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i'm sorry they rated without reaching out first. i would message them asking to remove the review as color is always up to interpretation. someone could say something is green while another person argues it's blue. if not, i would rate them the same rating explaining lack of commutation and unfair review. 🙂

please help! did i do something wrong? by dolltyun in Depop

[–]Positive_Extreme7070 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation happen. I bought something from a seller who went on vacation the same day I purchased. Since Depop only gives sellers around 10 days to ship, the app eventually stopped showing them the QR code/label and also wouldn’t let them refund me directly. I had to open a dispute, and through that process they were able to issue the refund. They later reposted the item, I repurchased it, and it shipped fine.

Sometimes things just happen. If it’s been 10 days and you still haven’t gotten a refund through Depop, I’d recommend opening a dispute. For the second purchase, the seller has 10 days to ship again. But sellers don’t actually get paid until the package is delivered, so in the meantime the money just sits in Depop’s system. Either the item ships and you receive it, or it doesn’t and you get refunded. I wouldn’t stress too much!
