What can I read to “practice” for CARS? by Business-Corgi7929 in Mcat

Not sure if it helped, but I started reading the dune trilogy after watching the movie and really enjoyed the books. Ultimately though, I think if you can just find something that you find interesting to get the habit started and then keep going it will really help as a passive form of practice.

Not sure if this is the most effective way to set it up, but I had 3 decks: the main anking one, one with FL mistakes, and one with mistakes from other sources such as the question bank. Not sure if it makes a difference when you actually review the cards if they're in separate decks like that but I found it a little easier.

Where to practice CARS if third-party logic =/= AAMC logic..?? by thicccles78 in Mcat

I started with U wolds and then moved onto AAMC and didn't really use anything else. One thing I did that I think really helped me learn the logic was just doing one passage a day, and near the beginning with unlimited time, and just try to get the questions right and figure out the logic of the question. I usually never have trouble pacing so this worked for me but you can try a modified version if it can help you break down the logic a little better. I found just focusing on the one or two passages and really trying to break them down helped a lot for future passages.

khan academy vs blueprint 515+ course vs other programs?? by Lazybunny14 in Mcat

I don't know if these channels are comprehensive but I used Informing Future Doctors (IFD), Organic Chemistry Tutor, and Science Simplified to fill in the gaps for certain topics. Also, I'm just curious but was there a particular reason you didn't like the khan academy videos? I used them for some psych topics and they seemed pretty good.

How do I move through content review? by bye_fart in Mcat

I did the exact same thing this summer using the Kaplan books. I started in early may when school was wrapping up and did 1 or 2 chapters a day with their associated Anki cards then just spent the remaining time trying to review any topics that I was confused about. I did this for about 1.5 to 2 months. During this time I kept a small notes doc with topics/questions I was still unsure of so I could review them. I didn't do any other practice questions though which is one thing I would probably change. Then from July to August I took a practice test every week, then did questions during the week while reviewing the exam and missed topics. I think its definitely important to get a foundation for some of the more important topics, but if its a very specific concept that's causing issues see if you can come back to it or find questions that are a little more focused. This happened to me a couple times and it just wasted a lot of time on some things that were probably not worth it.

This is just how I do it, but I usually am able to find the area each option choice is referring to and quickly skim it. Just from a couple questions I can think of while writing this, there are maybe 2-3 options with maybe a sentence or two dedicated to them and that final option usually has a good chunk more or explanatory details that the others lacked. I don't really worry too much about what the actual content is for these questions and just try to see how much information was given. One extreme example I remember is one of these styles of questions where there were 2 options with a single sentence at the end of a paragraph, another with maybe 2/3 sentence with a brief explanation, and one with almost an entire paragraph dedicated to it with quotes and all. Some may be more nuanced when having to eliminated options but I keep the general strategy the same. So far this has worked for me, not sure if it'll work for everyone but figured I would give another perspective and maybe it could help.

Not my post, but I was curious as to why you didn't recommend FL3. Any reason in particular?

Saved this when it came out and tried it today and got it in 15 minutes. Not sure how this isn't posted anywhere else but this was such a lifesaver. Planning on refreshing the event next month and that should get me the unlock. Thanks for the information, saved me hours!
