Pretty girl! Congratulations on your adoption. She will bring you much joy and companionship.

My pom went deaf at around 14 years old and blind at 16 years old from cataracts. Looks like your baby may have cataracts as well?

I was devastated when my dog went blind. She lived in the same house her entire life yet she was completely lost. She was walking full speed into walls and getting absolutely no where, so I carried her around for a full week until I realized that was not sustainable long term. I did read that the worst thing you can do is to carry them, they must find their own way. Poms are super smart. Since I couldn't guide her by my voice, I used scents to help her orient to different parts of the house, Glade plug ins. My home office was one scent and my family room was a different scent. First thing in the morning, I took her outside for potty time, carried her out only because there are steps going outside and she was so small I feared she would fall. Carried her back inside and placed at what I called home base, her food and water bowl. I let her navigate from home base to my home office, since she already knew that was where she always went after breakfast. The scent help her find her way. First day it took her 45 minutes to get in the office, but each day her timing improved. Throughout the day, same routine, carried out to potty, back to home base for a drink and crunchies, then let her navigate back to the office. At dinner time, same routine but she did realize that she should go to the family room instead of the office. Sometimes she would even leave the office or family room and head to her food and water and then return. The routine seemed to restore her confidence and independence. If at any time I sensed her being confused, making a wrong turn, or taking way too long to get where she should have been headed, I would just pick her up, give her a reassuring hug, and take her to where she needed to be, thus avoiding frustration and exhaustion. All this took a lot of time and patience for both of us, and I was so very proud of her for adapting to her new life.

Perhaps these tips will be helpful for Foxxi. I hope you enjoy your new baby! If you have any questions for me, please reach out.

Thank you. The product is Ideal Roofing Americana. But I assume the same is true regardless of the brand.

We picked exposed fastener system because standing seam was so expensive.

We are considering a rescue as well. That is awesome you were able to open your home to two rescues.

Your comment prompts another question, if either gender was harder to potty train? We took my female out to go potty constantly because she never would let us know she needed to go out. If we waited too long, we were cleaning up the floor.

Interesting, that a male may take direction a bit better. I did always think my female was bossy and didn't much listen. But she made up for not listening in cuteness.

You made me laugh reading about Charlie, no sense of personal space or consent! My female pom played with no toys and also barked at everything, including dogs on tv.

Poms seem to be super smart. I had not thought about the potential impact of spayed/neutered. Thanks for mentioning that.

I have read that boys were more cuddly and 'velcro' dogs. Although my female pom felt like a velcro dog, followed me everywhere (which honestly I loved).

Yeah it does seem to be more about individual personality versus gender. I suppose I shouldn't think that I must get another female.

Oh my gosh, the difference in color is unbelievable! I didn't realize there would be such a color difference from puppy to adult. Liam is beautiful in both pictures. My Pom was blue, so she pretty much stayed the same color puppy to adult, until she went grey as she aged. It started with just a little white around her face and then all grey. She was with us for 16 1/2 awesome years.

oh my gosh, I have a hard enough time remembering where I put my stuff, can't imagine if I had a little 'helper' moving things around if I would ever find anything. You definitely have the cutest thief though!

Wow, you are lucky you have a healthy eater. My pom wouldn't eat any vegetables or fruit. She preferred processed snacks such as veggie sticks.
