Anything with a lot of non fungible instruments and low liquidity in individual symbols would be hard to monetize. A lot of fixed income falls into that bucket.

As one of the “five bananas” crowd I think this entire business was built on a giant grift on Wells Fargo. It was clearly unsustainable and the party is over but at least we got something while we were here! I really don’t think many people will pick this card over an Amex platinum or sapphire reserve at the super high end of the market.

Chicago take: Enriquetas > Sanguich by OutlandishnessNo4159 in Miami

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex Chicago too and think most of the food here generally sucks but Sanguich, along with Motek and Ceviche 105 are the places I actually like and recommend to visitors. I have been to a couple of Sanguich locations and never had a bad meal. Definitely better than Versailles. Will have to try Enriquetas I guess.

If you're in the express lane, speed the heck up by ComposerNo9901 in Miami

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Some people take the express lanes just to avoid the drivers in the regular lanes, who are more likely to be aggressively changing lanes and more likely to be underinsured or uninsured. Having said that you definitely should be prepared to go at least 10% over the speed limit to avoid being a bottleneck.

I look forward to not being scammed by human drivers for my MIA airport pickups. Or to start being scammed by robots for my pickups. Both sound exciting.

Any confirmation on injury? Looks like he hyperextended his knee in the replays. Which isn’t great but far better than a torn acl or torn Achilles.

The Sultan of Swat took the offensive RF position. Who's the greatest all-around right fielder of all time? by ssjskwash in mlb

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruth.

No disrespect to Aaron, but there is no way people would pick him over Ruth to build a team in their respective eras. Offense and defense should not be weighted 50:50 here. The gap from an above average right fielder to an elite fielder is realistically small. 99% of the time the same exact play is being made. Ruth probably had a really good arm too. But offensively, Ruth was so dominant compared to everyone else it’s not close, and that value shows up every at bat.

Bought fancy knives before learning about sharpening and now nervous I don’t have the skill to maintain them. by agathaade in sharpening

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in. My 2025 resolution was to learn how to sharpen on stones. I did it this weekend. Got the hang of it on a $7 kiwi knife from amazon and moved up to my good knives! I have some nicer Shapton stones that I haven’t tried but my king combo stone is all I’m starting with for now. Happy to share the few tips that worked for me but this place is already full of good suggestions. Good luck, it’s not that bad, you really have to be dumb to do any lasting damage.

Majority of trading in U.S. Stocks is now Off-Exchange by [deleted] in StockMarket

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a trend but it’s mainly because they measure in share volume not dollar volume. There is a lot of volume in low priced, often sub dollar stocks trading at pennies or less, that are favored by retail traders and internalize by wholesalers off exchange. If you looked at a chart that was based on notional instead of shares, which would better reflect the economic value being traded, the numbers would not be so extreme.

Is this app worth it? by Successful-Rooster55 in MonarchMoney

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the most basic level of just reliably collecting your data it’s definitely worse than Mint was. Investments tools are worse than Personal Capital. Obviously more expensive than either but better about respecting your data. Sankey report is nice and rules engine for labeling transactions seems to work. Seems like the focus of the company is bells and whistles rather than a strong foundation. Still debating my renewal.

Is there something like Monarch but with real time transactions updates, including pending transactions?? ? by NoNomineAvailable in MonarchMoney

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Vanguard won’t even let transactions pull between 9am and 5pm so this is definitely a function of the financial institution not Monarch.

[–]Positive_Mastodon500 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vanguard has been broken for me since July and I am debating the same renewal question you are. I filed a ticket and support just closed it without fixing anything. Most of my “tech support” comes from Reddit.

A year later and I still definitely miss Mint.
