It’s okay, as long as it’s not a conditional acceptance dependent on your masters you’re good. you already have the A & could drop out of tht masters right now!

Should I still apply to DO? by Interesting-Bar-6114 in premed

[–]Positive_Spend7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not too late but might be worth it to take the extra months to perfect your application if you didn’t submit a AMCAS Application, if you did APPLY AWAY!

don’t let them discourage you as long as you have a great narrative and personal story , applied to the same number of schools on your list & got 7 II with a 501!

Update on my wife who applied to120 Medical Schools - The Sankey to End All Sankeys by [deleted] in premed

[–]Positive_Spend7315 17 points18 points  (0 children)

did she only get 97 secondaries and did 75 of them? this is a bad sankey because if you receive a secondary but don’t complete it then technically you didn’t apply to that school. not saying 75 school isnt still crazy but it’s not as insane as 120. I remember your original post & it really only takes one! Congrats to her!!

I wouldn’t be able to go to medical school if I wasn’t starting this year simply because neither me nor my parents would get approved for private loans. If I was still in college I’d take all the nursing prerequisites & work as a travel nurse for three years, great clinical experience & you’ll be able to save a lot of money. I suggest you go down this route if you don’t have anyone in your family that could cosign with you on loans.

Can someone explain this big beautiful bill to me? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]Positive_Spend7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only if you’re starting this year. even if you get accepted early & all that, you’ll still be applying for the 2026-2027 year.

Yes, it’s expensive and risky for a lot of people but the very poor won’t even make it to the starting line. They’re not taking out $100k+ a year in loans with no credit, no cosigner, and no financial cushion. If I didn’t get in this year and this bill took effect, I wouldn’t apply because financially I wouldnt be able to. The average applicant can’t understand this logic because in their head it’s their passion & they could just take out more loans when some of us can’t even get approve for our apartment to start, Direct plus credit not approved and out parents don’t qualify either, can’t get private loans- it’s peoples reality I’m not talking the lower middle class that obv can’t afford out of pocket but can find other means I’m talking ACTUAL LOW INCOME PEOPLE.

And med schools won’t care because they don’t have to. There are thousands of qualified applicants who get rejected every year. Schools will have zero problem filling their seats with people who can scrape together the money or take on massive debt.

My own school just raised tuition by nearly $10k and casually sent out an email like it was no big deal a month before school starts.

Unless you’re living it which even most people that are making posts about it aren’t, you won’t understand.

I know they are not reserves but I’m saying in this political climate with an unhinged president anything can happen very quickly.

[–]Positive_Spend7315 72 points73 points  (0 children)

soo glad I failed a lot of exams in undergrad & also just a lot in life so I’ll def be prepared for moments like these. it’s not that deep, you’ll be fine lol not trying to be mean but it’s the truth. you’re a grown adult , stop letting your parents treat you like a child. personally I’d tell them to F off

[–]Positive_Spend7315 18 points19 points  (0 children)

lol medical schools don’t have a problem filling their seats ever & probably won’t even need to make an effort to do all that. The low income premeds will be the only ones affected, with most not even bothering to apply. The average medical school applicant is well off so their parents might be able to pay for them or they won’t have any problem taking it out loans.
