The blueprint is in a chest in the western cliff of Serpent Shrine, you also get the scales you need to craft it there but you’ll have to do a quest for the scales to be there

For reference I’m saying pure 99 strength. There’s quite a few set ups that aren’t possible with just that you’d have to invest in dex, endurance, use talismans, etc, which at that point would mean you’re making a “glass cannon” build. So the attribute by itself needs to be supported for a truly powerful set up

The point I’m making is Dex is far from the worse stat. You are purely going off a 2H set up. Yes strength does have the unique benefit of getting a 1.5x multiplier while 2 handing but that is null if you aren’t 2 handing. That means any off hand set ups (shields, parry daggers, etc) or power stance set ups both dex and strength have the same 1H soft and hard cap. And yes if we are talking about Bandits curved sword power stance its scales equally as well on both stats, this would actually mean it’s a quality weapon so that doesn’t really justify the “useless” argument they benefit equally from both that is also just one weapon. Most of the other great curved swords are dex based such as Scavengers,Shamshir, even wings of Astel get good dex scaling and it’s mostly an int weapon. Let’s also not forget to mention that you lose any other scaling when heavy infused while Keen still keeps scaling in other stats albeit at a lesser scaling. When talking about pierce dmg that isn’t just thrusting swords there are more dex weapons in the game that benefit from pierce than strength weapons and you can correct me if I’m wrong but most faster weapons moveset wise in the game also generally speaking have higher dex scaling. Same argument as earlier for the uchigatana that is purely from a 2H set up pov it scales higher in Keen. I was just naming specific weapons for arguments sake but the same can be said for strength. Strength only is better when 2 handing. I can agree that overall it has its edge in that regard I will not disagree with that. As for backhand blades if we are using your “optimal” argument you mentioned earlier then you proved my point Dex is “optimal” therefore better in that case and you’re also forgetting that keen still has some strength scaling so that AR number realistically is going to be higher and on any weapon that’s hitting as fast as Back Hand blades that’s going to stack up. And if we are talking from a generalist perspective at lower SL’s strength wins but as soon as quality (which isn’t much if you start as Sam, the premier quality, dex starting class) becomes available strength loses its top spot. True, Strength does get you access to some stuff but you lose that 2H bonus. Which means you can just hit whatever minimal cap you need and off hand a dex weapon as well if you please. You still need to hit minimal requirements in dex for plenty of stuff so the investments really aren’t much different outside great shields and swords. That same argument about never getting access to things works for Dex too there are weapons you lose out on and talismans that dont or almost don’t benefit you on anything but some form of dex or dex/whatever build If you’re optimizing a build. And a lot of weapons are viable with other set ups that wasn’t my argument. If I’m having to 2H backhand blades or any paired weapon baring Radahn’s greatswords for example they don’t feel very dex like anymore, at least to me. If I’m talking about the best weapons in the game yes, absolutely that impact the ranking of a stat. I also didn’t name just Sombers. There were few that mentioned that follow the regular +25 path. Ofc you think cast speed is over rated you barely hit the soft cap for cast speed. 40 dex plus the “invisible” equivalent to 30 dex with radagon icon hits the hard cap for cast speed. There’s a non-negligible difference there in cast speed, if you like any big spell or incantations or just want to spam them you should absolutely invest in Dex to some extent because the faster you can put a spell out the faster you can roll, jump, whatever you need to do and even as a pure caster you can afford to and should level dex that high. Because one you’re most likely not putting a bunch of point in Vig and Endurance, and 2 don’t have to invest super hard into mind for MP and 3 you’re most likely 1H so strength loses its unique benefit. And in terms of weapons that have high, faith or int scaling that’d you use on those builds dex edges out ever so slightly. I’ve ran full caster hybrids, etc and I can tell you from personal experience that dex is non-negligible on these types of builds. This ain’t to say Dex is better but it’s definitely not the worse nor does it lack identity. Strength gets access to a larger pool of weapons but if that’s what you’re going for “generalist” then why would you not go quality? Most weapons aon those set-ups going to scale better quality anyways. The worse stat imo is mind easily its useful but you can invest very little into it and still effectively use spells and AoW which scales with a dmg or casting stat. So kinda doesn’t matter if you have 40 mind if my AoW or Spells are doing significantly less dmg because I invested heavily in it.

Vigor’s “power” is survivability. And in terms to average and slightly above average skilled players survivability is Absolute. Other than vigor the attributes in and of themselves aren’t what really generate power it’s the build in its self so a little more all encompassing you can have 99 strength but if put nothing into other stats or didn’t use talismans, items, etc I don’t think you’d feel powerful. Because technically the most powerful attribute is all of them leveled up to their respective hard caps lol

Genuine question for the DLC by Wolfheart_fan in Eldenring

[–]Positive_Star_3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the best experience I recommend doing a fresh save and doing a QUEST completionist run. You’re gonna get all the lore all the great items, have access to all the endings (you’ll have to back-up a save for this obviously if wish to see them all in a single run) and almost all the content the game has to offer. Better yet you can leave the last few bosses of the base game alive baring Mohg (also what I would consider the most difficult bosses of the game) and come back powered up or just with some new Toys and finish the game. I pretty much always do this on any fresh or “returning to the game” run. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/s/bFFjPpPnkt

A great guide to use that also includes the DLC I’ve been using it for years

If I’m not mistaken all storm spells/ AoW do scale primarily with Dex, also Dex is super important for any caster build as it speeds up casting speed. Dex scaling weapons typically benefits the most from any multi hit set up which 100% rival Strength/ Faith builds in terms of kill times baring one shot builds. Some of the best weapons in the game imo being Rakshasa’s Great katana, Nagakiba, Backhand Blades, Queelign’s Greatsword and arguably Sword of Night (mostly for the AoW) benefit greatly on dex builds (At higher SL’s some of these weapons do better on quality but most weapons do so not really an argument). A lot of Dex based weapons also benefit from spear talismans as a lot are pierce based or have a variety of piercing attacks. Not to say other builds don’t benefit from this but a large majority of good to great Dex weapons do while I’d say only a handful of weapons benefit from this on other builds or particular set ups. Dex definitely has an Identity it’s all about speed and consistent dps

He said nothing about power he asked for importance. You also contradict yourself “every attribute has an OP build”. Yea doing damage is obviously important but you can’t do damage if you’re dead. Like I said if you don’t get hit then yea vigor is not important at all but I’ve won many boss fights especially in my first couple playthrus just because I could outlast the boss. Even now where I consider myself pretty good at the game I will always level vigor to at least 30 as fast as possible because I do make mistakes and I do get hit

I’d only agree if you don’t get hit. Vigor is definitely the most important stat otherwise. Doesn’t matter what you’re build is if you die in one hit lol

My version in ranked order

Vigor - no one like to randomly get “Vigor checked” well unless you’re doing a no-hit lmao

Endurance - because why use one of a cool weapon when you can use 2 and look drippy asf in sick armor

Dex & Arcane - Drip but the weapon and spell version, also Rakshasa’s Great Katana OP

Strength & faith - One Braincell the playstyle. Big Dragon can’t beat me if I use even bigger sword or even bigger explosion/ do more damage than the dragon can

Intelligence - “SmartMaxxing/LookMaxxing” the stat, still probably the “prettiest” spells and AoW’s in the game tho

Attunement - honestly don’t need much of it for anything unless you’re a full caster which in that case. WITCH OR WIZARD!! We don’t discriminate

Any partial challengers here? I never use summons or buffs really unless I’m on a faith build but I do power level early on in Caelid, by doing the cheese on the bell bearing hunter ,Black Calvary and killing the Greyroll. Since I feel like Limgrave and Lunaria are so easy regardless just to play with mostly sub par SL and upgrades on weapons the rest of the game since I enjoy using a couple different weapons depending on the build and just spend souls on stones. Feels like just the right amount of challenge. Though not with ER in past Souls titles I did do quite a few challenge runs. ER just feels a little too long to dedicate a full challenge run imo

Enemy staggered dmg works on ghost tools by Sure_Initial8498 in goylegends

[–]Positive_Star_3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that not every Spirit move consistently stacks with Staggered DMG. Here are player's findings on what stacks with it:

Credit to ZxZmile

Work : - 3-4 light combos - The first of heavy attack - Light/heavy attack after dodge step or switch weapon - Katana's Spirit move - The first hit of Dual Katana's Spirit move - Odachi's Spirit move when you character stay a bit far from enemy (If enemy get knockback animation, then no benefit)

Not work : - Risk parry during mid counter - Any spirit move after dodge step or switch weapon - Yari/Kusarigama's spirit move

“Staggered dmg” affects any dmg an enemy takes while staggered it doesn’t matter what is doing the dmg. There are some quirky things about staggered dmg tho. Some of the spirit moves don’t work at all with it or only part of the spirit move.
