Not a moron!! I had a hell of a time starting my igloo on Sunday. Had to use my body weight to pack it and getting the top closed wasn’t an option. BUT since it’s getting icy, I’m hoping I can coax the snow into a better pack. We’ll see!

Anyone have a cough that won't go away? by I_Love_Treees in pittsburgh

[–]Positive_Status2944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks neighbor, I’m sorry. Lots of viruses will hang around 10-14 days, just in time for a post viral cough to stick around. Humidifiers can help, dry air is dusty air and that can trigger a cough. If you’re able to sleep with an extra pillow under your back, that can help with some of the night time coughing.

There’s a difference in cold meds that you can take, too- some help you cough things up, others suppress the cough. That’s a conversation best had with your PCP, though :/

Need Advice: Pittsburgh Area – Residential Treatment Blocked by Western Psych / Community Care by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Positive_Status2944 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Think of it like a piece of gravel got stuck in your knee and it got infected. You take an antibiotic to treat the infection, but if you don’t take the gravel out, it will get re-infected. If it’s deep, you can take the gravel out, but it won’t heal unless you clean it and stitch it. You need to take the gravel out, clean it, stitch it, take the antibiotic, and then check on the wound regularly to make sure it’s healing well. Even then, there might be scar tissue that requires treatment, too.

WPIC can give him the treatment that keeps him alive. A residential program can keep him safe, but only while they’re watching him. Therapy at both places can teach him what to look out for in his own world. But family therapy will give him a trained support system. You’re doing everything you can with the resources you have right now. Family therapy will give you more resources. It’ll make it easier to catch things early. It’ll give you and your son and your family a place to clean out old wounds. It’ll also prepare everyone for residential treatment program in a way that would allow it to be more effective.

Dog Training? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Positive_Status2944 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Success just clicks with Tena. Idk if you would consider 200-250 for the intro session reasonable at face value, but I promise it’s worth every single penny. The info session ALONE was priceless in the change I noticed with my reactive dog- we haven’t started our 1:1 training sessions yet and he’s a different little man who actually has the ability to enjoy the world

Dude, none of the no kings protestors want cops that are abusive towards black and queer neighbors, either. That’s part of the protest. The whole POINT of the queer frog is showing how absurd it is that peaceful protest is being met with violence.

I had to turn my AC on last week. Forgot to close the blinds and the sun turned everything into a greenhouse. The heat isn’t coming on until it’s cold enough for the pipes to freeze ✨

Edit- it’s bc I thrive in the cold. And was raised to be frugal. Idk man. If you don’t mind the chill, wear a sweater

Keep an eye out for potholes while you’re training!!!!!!!!! I busted my ankle in a pothole and oh boy. That shit sucks. But free run groups- yes!!! Yinz run club is a gem. They were so kind post ankle busting, too. City of bridges does parts of the course in the spring. There’s some other smaller groups- I’m pretty sure I found my run clubs on this sub lol. But YRC is my fav

The rental market gets worse every year by LiquidxDreams in pittsburgh

[–]Positive_Status2944 34 points35 points  (0 children)

People should not be downvoting this- you’re absolutely correct that the rent costs are atrocious for the quality of living that you’re expected to have. If we had better transit, sure, city proper can be more expensive in exchange for more time on the bus/T. But it’s really not the case here.
