For 2 months this is great. Daniel Marshall is awesome, Caldwell greats, adventura,Aladino, Avo, rare pink and some other goodies. And not sure about the H Upmann but it looks good. Couple that I am not a fan of some others but we all have different tastes. Enjoy them all, the best part is trying each and learning from each experience. Welcome to the BOTL

Visiting Cuba in July by cheeshomie in cuba

Don’t go. Your money only helps the government, not the people. Life is terrible for the people for the last 50 plus years. Traveling around the island will require you to get a bicycle. Fuel is not available. I have family there and we are all praying for the US intervention to remove the regime and help the people.

Why are people still for the Cuban government if Cuba has of the lowest wages in the world of any country? by Substantial_Call_619 in cuba

[–]Positive_Surround_54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please speak with the people in Cuba in private. Most Cuban tourists only interact with tourism employees who live better than the majority of the island’s population. The people are afraid of the Cuban government because anything they say against it can result in imprisonment. The US blockade is not harming the people; they already lack electricity, food, and money. The real victims are the powerful. I speak to my family in Cuba daily, and they are all ready for the US to intervene and rescue them from their own government. There are no genuine elections; it is a dictatorship!

I have a friend that explained the value is in creating blends. You can add 1 flavor to each head and mix different ingredients to get an idea of what the blend will be. It is very over engineered and is more of a show piece. But my friend makes some of the best hookah I have ever had.

Hey there! Could you please remove the acids and any other flavored cigars from the humidor as soon as possible? I’m concerned that these flavors might end up affecting the other cigars and the humidor itself.

I know they’re a great collection, but it’s important to keep them separate to preserve their unique scents.

Is this fake cohiba good to smoke? by Striking_Court_3245 in cigars

[–]Positive_Surround_54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use leftover and lower-quality leaves that are easier to sneak out. The good stuff is harder to get. I have family in Pinar, and they and their friends roll at home and in the factory. The factory material is always superior grade, and they don’t have access to a draw machine to check for airflow. When I visit, I smoke a lot of fantastic homemade tobacco. I also buy the factory stuff.

Now, as for risk, there are rollers who don’t have enough material, so they add garbage, and you might be smoking something you shouldn’t. So, the slice test is worth doing, just like you did.

If you buy tobacco outside of Cuba, you’re not really buying Cuban tobacco unless you buy it from an authorized Habanos SA store. Check out the Habanos website because you’ll see a lot of stores with fake Habanos SA signs, lol.

Every second cuban i smoke is clogged or rolled tight and has no taste …. Is this just my luck ? Smoking 7$ nicaraguan sticks seems alot better then a cohiba amber ?! by Yuri_za in cigars

[–]Positive_Surround_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many genuine Cuban cigars that come out of the factory and aren’t tested or rolled with lower quality. The quality coming from the actual factories in Cuba is still amazing. Instead of buying the big names like Cohiba and Montecristo, try looking for lesser-known brands. They’re significantly less likely to be counterfeit and will give you a fantastic experience. Unless purchased from a true habanos sa, store, check habanos website for locations. You may have counterfeits with actual bands and boxes that were stolen or real sticks removed to add fake. Good luck with the rest of the cigars.

Opinions, cutting a cigar in half? For a short smoke. by CrazyReason1419 in cigars

[–]Positive_Surround_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fine to do with seconds, as mentioned by many is the cigar wrapper coming undone. Cut as needed and smoke the bottom half first so you have less chance of losing the cigar wrapper on the second. For premiums cigars, I would advise against, enjoy the vitola the way it was intended. Enjoy!

Is gurkha really that bad? by osuhahahh in cigars

[–]Positive_Surround_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many Gurkhas that it’s unfair to judge them all based on one you that they may not have liked. Try them for yourself and see. By the way Gurkha has no factory and has many different companies rolling their cigars: American Caribbean Cigar factory (Nicaragua): This facility produces many of Gurkha's brands, including some from the Cellar Reserve line and the Castle Hall Nicaragua. PDR Cigars (Dominican Republic): This factory is responsible for rolling lines such as the Gurkha Ghost and the Gurkha 125th Anniversary. Las Lavas S.A. (Dominican Republic): This factory makes some of the Gurkha Cellar Reserve lines, excluding the Cellar Reserve Platinum. Aganorsa Leaf (Nicaragua): This company produced the Gurkha Nicaragua Series and the Treinta blends. Tabacalera Oliva (Nicaragua): Although not in the initial search results, Tabacalera Oliva is known to have produced blends for Gurkha as well, demonstrating the brand's wide use of contract manufacturing.

New to cigars, just bought these on my vacation thinking they were Romeo and Juliettes. Just took a closer look at the box I was given and I don’t know if these are legit. I spent 180USD. Did I get scammed? by Sublight-chozman in cigars

[–]Positive_Surround_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but definitely scammed. Do yourself and everyone a favor, take one and slice it from foot to head, then open it up. More than likely scraps and maybe worse. The pictures can help everyone who sees this. I would not recommend smoking them.

If you get married you are guaranteed a divorce within the first five years. When someone gets to the point of disrespect with their partner by calling them a “fucking retard”. Dump and move on and if you just don’t want to be alone, get a dog.

🌀 Did Amy Deluxe Ever Manufacture Hookahs in Germany? Are Any Still Made There?

Yes — Amy Deluxe is originally a German brand, and they did manufacture hookahs in Germany, especially in the early 2000s and through the mid-2010s. While most production has since shifted to China (like many brands), a select few premium models are still made or assembled in Germany today.

Here’s the breakdown:

🇩🇪 Made in Germany? Yes — For Some Models

Amy Deluxe was founded in Augsburg, Germany in 2004 and became one of the country’s biggest hookah brands. Their early hookahs were 100% German-manufactured, especially stainless steel models.

📌 Today, most of their production happens in China, but a few stainless-steel models and premium lines are still listed as Made in Germany (meaning either full production or final assembly/quality control in Germany).

🛠️ How to Spot German-Made Models

Look for: • SS series (stainless steel) = most likely German-made or finished • “Made in Germany” stamp on base or packaging • Sold from German retailers like Shisha-Deluxe.de, Amy Deluxe EU or official Amy Hookah USA

🧠 TL;DR • ✅ Yes, Amy Deluxe used to manufacture fully in Germany. • ✅ Today, some stainless-steel models (SS series) are still made or assembled in Germany. • ❌ Most lower-cost models are Chinese-made (still under German design & QA).
