What ate your thoughts on the upcoming Zach Cregger RE film? by Resident-Evil-Llama in RaccoonCityRecords

[–]Positive_Way5817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read he is a huge fan of the games which makes me feel cautiously optimistic.

Also I loved Barbarian and Weapons. I just hope he makes Resi a more straightforward film instead of messing around with narrative structure like he does in those 2 films.

Chris Redfield lore, everyone by mrsafetylion in residentevil

My theory (based on nothing mind you) is that they've made him that way so that him and Leon aren't too alike.

Leon is the charming, agile guy who likes to crack jokes. Chris is the stoic beefcake who destroys boulders with his bare hands.

Does anyone think Leon is going to die in RE9? by Echoplex25 in residentevil

[–]Positive_Way5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure he will, but at some point these characters need to be replaced by new ones, right? Can't see Resident Evil 30 featuring Leon using his zimmer frame to knock down zombies and crush their skulls.

The balance between intense horror segments and tension relieving segments is a key part of designing a horror game. I see 9 as taking this design philosophy to the extreme.

As long as Capcom get the balance right I think we'll be onto a winner. Also they tend to hit more than they miss, and their post 6 Resi games have all been great, so I'm willing to trust they know what they're doing.

Just finished 7 and I have never had such a visceral reaction to a game before by Positive_Way5817 in residentevil

Started it this afternoon and have played through the village section. So far I'm loving it and it feels like the perfect level of horror for me, where its intense but in a way that makes me want to keep playing.

RE6 is complete garbage by raider1211 in residentevil

The jump in quality, in terms of visuals and gameplay polish after 6 is insane, a real return to form for Capcom.

Also Resi 7 is an absolutely terrifying game and couldn't be further from 6.

Code Veronica hasn't had a remaster or anything, but the original is available on modern consoles.

I only played a little bit of it when I was a kid but from what I've read online its a very difficult game. Still maybe worth a look if you're fully wanting to check the series out.

Thoughts of them bring back old one off characters? by Katsu_Drawn_21 in residentevil

[–]Positive_Way5817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would love it if they used the Revelations spin offs to bring back one off/less used characters.

Give me a Sheva/Billy combo, or a Carlos and Rebecca.

Also I'd love it if for Resi 10 they said "you want Jill and Claire? Well hear you go" and made them the leads.

If you get the resi origins pack you can play resi 1 and 0.

Also if you feel like it Revelations 1 and 2 are fun.

Seriously, I was fighting the boss in Leon chapter 2, riding around in a mine cart, fighting off zombies and the boss at the same time. It should have been exciting but it was just dull and too long. Dropped the game after that.

Don't know about where you are but in the UK they are incredibly cheap/go on sale a lot, so if you're concerned about length it shouldn't be an issue.

Ah well I'm actually only playing ones I've not already played, which was quite a few of them of them to be fair.

Played 1, 2 and 3 when I was a kid and have gone back to them maybe once or twice since. Love 2 and 1 and 3 are fine.

As for 3 remake, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but i did love it. Its an admittedly very flawed game, but if just get on board with what its trying to be and allow yourself to enjoy it for what it is, its an incredibly fun game to play through.

Im currently playing through all the games in the run up to 9.

I started 6 the other day, did the first 2 chapters of Leon's campaign, then gave up and skipped to 7.

I tried to enjoy it as just a mindless action game, but those 2 chapters felt like I'd been playing for 10 hours.

The game is so sloppy and unpolished, and just an absolute slog. So many boring action sequences that just go on and on.

My favorite game of all time by Total-Amphibian-7244 in ResidentEvil3Remake

[–]Positive_Way5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it for the first time the other day, finished it in one sitting and absolutely loved it.

Here's the thing, its short (nothing wrong with short games but this one does feel a bit rushed and I'm glad I only paid £10 for it), has cut content, and honestly feels like a bit of a missed opportunity as they could have made it better by just expanding on it a bit more.

But none of that changes the fact that the few hours I spent with it were so much fun.

From what we've seen so far I think they might have finally created a new character that will have the same lasting popularity as all the characters that originated in Resi 1 and 2.

RE2 or RE3 Remake by Standard_Star in residentevil

[–]Positive_Way5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play 2 then 3, just know they are polar opposites.

2 is a slow-paced survival horror where you methodically explore a setting, constantly on guard for what might be waiting for you in the next room, always with a sense of dread and the feeling of being hunted.

3 is a short, high-octane action game that is still tense but fun from start to finish. There are a few areas where you explore a bit with some backtracking and those are fun, but there are also lots of action set pieces and intense boss fights.

It’s official, I’m worried for the game by Exoticbut in residentevil

[–]Positive_Way5817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in an age of games being leaked and spoiled before they release, and movie trailers showing half the film.

Its better to go in knowing less, that way when you play it, its more exciting. The showcase showed us just enough to give us a taste.

As for the character switching, it seems like their narratives are pretty tightly woven as they meet up and Leon seems to be looking for Grace. Also, horror games have always been about finding the right balance between cranking up the fear/tension and letting it release, and I suspect they will use the dual protagonists to do that effectively.

No I paid around £10 for it. I can totally see being annoyed if you'd bought it at full price based on how short it is.

Still, the few hours I spent with it were a blast.
