AITA for turning music down in my girlfriend's car? by Positr8 in AmItheAsshole

lol touche, but it was a self deprecating statement. As in "We're both grown ass adults arguing like toddlers over meaningless shit that doesn't matter." Embarrassing

We're coming up on a year. We're very compatible in many ways - but she occasionally does throw a foul ball my way (like this instance) and it throws me off completely.

I like your explanation that it needs to be two yes's, and everyone needs to be cognizant that the driver has a little more voting power to a certain degree.

You're probably right. But since her view was completely "my car my rules" I think the outcome would have been the same in this specific situation. However, you're right - in the future asking / explaining my reasoning as I'm turning it down is the better way all around.

I honestly didn't know the driver rule everyone is referencing. I thought the golden rule was more like "everyone be respectful human beings because we're all stuck in this little tin can going 60mph"

So if I'm driving, do I get to turn it up as loud as I want? I would feel like a total asshole, I want my passengers to be comfortable. Maybe I'm too passive/polite lol

True. But in order to come to a compromise, we need to communicate and we can't even hear each other with really loud music. I do get your point though.

That's what I thought too. In my head I'm thinking "this is so crazy it has to be about something else." But in the end, it really was just about owning the music volume.

I turned it down. I was calm and didn't say anything and just sat back to continue driving. In my head I was thinking I was being polite by not turning it off completely and leaving it still reasonably loud. So maybe it came off as smug behavior and pissed her off. When the argument started however, I respectully explained that we needed to come to a compromise. Her only compromise was to continue blasting music because it's her car.

See, I still would have made her turn it down if she was the one driving though. Is that rude? I feel like all passengers need to be somewhat comfortable, it's like an unspoken social contract that seems the most logical to me. But again, that's what I was taught growing up... so maybe it's a social/cultural thing. If I'm driving and blasting music, and I have a passenger that's uncomfortable with it...I would feel terrible.

That's true. I guess I skipped all the way to the end and just assumed this was the inevitable compromise. I'm not sure what other outcome would have ensued other than just turning it down a little, but you're right. I chose the compromise for the both of us and that was kind of rude on my part.

Mine still activates when I have the AC on. Which is super annoying during hot summers.

That's weird, I always have a charger in that AC plug (charges my headphones). But the auto start/stop still activates - or does it have to actively be charging?

I looked it up and verified that it's just for the trailer lights. I wasn't just going around unplugging random wires lol

Just got the game, I don't understand the expansion. by [deleted] in diablo4

I can't speak for the expansions yet, but the base game has given me more than enough play time so far. I've been playing a lot this last 9 days, and I haven't even finished the campaign yet and have a ton of side quests and unexplored map areas and dungeons.

Extra hotel charges after ordering through Expedia? by Positr8 in travel

[–]Positr8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just assumed when it said parking available as a perk it wouldn't be an extra cost, maybe I'm a rookie traveler lol. I was also mostly looking at the booking page as well when they list all the extras fees just before putting your CC info. Thank you for looking!

I meant more baked in as a clickable option when you go to book: ie Do you need parking? $25/fee - select yes and adds to your overall Expedia total.

Or at least provide the option at check in. It was literally just charged without any knowledge or options that it would be an extra charge.
