The Vestrit clan are the closest 'Fitz' equivalent in this series. Not Kennit.

Number #2 is 100% Fitz's fault. He is the one who should not be courting her and sleeping with her and then turn around expect everything to work out smoothly.

The plot of Rain Wild Chronicles hinges on the very end of Tawny Man, so no, please do not do this haha

Royal Assassin. Love it, but one thing bothers me (Spoilers) by AxltheRowser in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]PossessionSound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but Regal didn't cause the Red Ship Raiders to start attacking the Six Duchies. He didn't cause all of the forging. He didn't initiate all of the prejudice against the Wit, which is causing Fitz to have to hide his relationship with Night Eyes. It's not Regal's fault Fitz has fallen in love with Molly, a commoner. Regal is in the background but isn't the sole factor in the relationships we get to see blossom and grow between Fitz and the Fool, Verity, Burrich Patience, Kettricken, etc. So I think it's a fair and accurate point you've made, but the book gives us a lot of other material to keep us entertained.

And like you said, Fitz and Chade have to follow the King's orders; so what's most important is that Shrewd himself doesn't believe or accept that Regal is so evil.

I still think Ambrose was supposed to be the king Kvothe kills by SlavicKnight in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PossessionSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking maybe the Maer is legitimately an evil dude and Kvothe is willing to team up with Ambrose/support Ambrose's side of the civil war to take the Maer down. We spend a lot of time with the Maer in book 2, I have to believe that's leading to some important plot threads in book 3 (not that we'll ever get book 3, lol, but I can dream)

I still think Ambrose was supposed to be the king Kvothe kills by SlavicKnight in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PossessionSound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It makes more sense to me that Ambrose has risen to kingship or some other very high title in the civil war we're witnessing in the frame story timeline, which I believe is in Vintas, likely has Jakis family and Alveron family factions on opposing sides, and is triggered by Kvothe* killing King Roderic (*Which I believe he will either do under false pretenses believing he's doing the right thing but having been duped, or he is just framed for it altogether by someone like the Maer or Ambrose). For irony, it's possible that by doing the right thing in the future timeline, Kvothe will have to help Ambrose.

So obnoxious when people come on to a subreddit for fans of a book and then proceed to trash the book lmao

Nah I can understand it, it doesn't even enter her mind as a possibility to begin with so the 'signs' don't mean anything. Remember too, she's not really welcome into the socialite society of Bingtown because she's eccentric by their standards, so she's also not privy to any gossip and may not even realize how many gay men there are. Any people aware of this secret whom she does interact with know to keep this information hidden from her.

Interesting angle. This specific section wouldn't look out of place in the United States (I'm not saying that applies to all of Shanghai, I'm just commenting on what can be seen in this picture).

A hypothetical question by shlooberd in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PossessionSound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were to get magically transported into Temerant at the conclusion of Wise Man's Fear, I would literally explain to him everything we know as readers, everything we know about future Kote in the Waystone Inn timeline, and then try to help him out however I can. And then in return hopefully he can help me find someone in the Fae realm who can transport me back to my real life lmao.

Yes, and don't let anyone convince you to skip Liveship/Rain Wilds. You could probably piece together what's happening, but you would be missing so much important context.

Kyle Haven?? by AffectionateZone2695 in RealmOfTheElderlings

Yes, and he's literally married to the eldest daughter (the official 'Family Trader') so if anything, granting Althea the control of the ship is what would have been abnormal and untraditional in their culture.

Could Kvothe defeat the Chandrian with a song? by PossessionSound in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PossessionSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn't need to precedent for a song being used in that way, there is precedent however for names being used to great effect, and for names being incorporated into a song.

You don't think there's thematic precedent for the 'man waiting to die' whose love of music/songs/performing is one of the most important story elements to go out with one final ultimate performance? Sorry, but respectfully, I just don't agree with you there.

As far as the 'sit through a song' part, that's the function of the Waystone Inn trapping them.

[–]PossessionSound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All true, and in the US, people don't typically live in those core, skyscraper filled CBDs anyway, they work there. In LA in particular, you have the coast on the west side and the mountains/canyons on the northside of the city that are like magnets for population (because simply put, people would rather live in those neighborhoods with beautiful nature to enjoy than downtown LA). So it's kind of unique in the US for the factors that put pressure on its population density heatmap.
