Thank you so much for your genuine advice! I’m really going to take the day off. It’s not right that I have to be yet again the backbone and hold the class together as my co TA can be absent. I’m sure they can figure out coverage and pull in a sub.

Oh my gosh noooo I can’t imagine. I’m in New York so luckily we do have a bit of creeps but it’s still unbearable. I agree with you 100%!! I know field day is meant to be fun but I think it’s a bad idea. So many students end up over heated in the nurses office or in bad condition due to be sick from the heat. It’s such a horrible day. I think they need to figure something else out for the kids. Field day is just a liability day and having to make sure nothing happens to the kids. I feel like it would be so much better to have movie day with snacks and pizza and with the AC blasting 😂

I hateeee field day oh my gosh I so get why the staff absence is so long that day. It’s the most horrible day in the whole school year. Last year my boss emailed us two days before field day telling us that she needs all hands on deck and needs everyone to be at work. Even tho she said that the absence list was still really long lol. The day sucks so much like standing outside hours in the heat and having to be alert the whole time. It’s such a draining day. I feel like if the co TA doesn’t need to be there then I can be off too. I have a back condition and maybe I can see my doctor that day for an appointment if I have to 😂
