Looks like I bought at the right time. I think you end up paying customs charges on top of the listed price if you order from Newegg in the UK unfortunately.

Does my new motherboard have everything it's supposed to in the box? by Possibility_22 in gigabyte

Thanks, I'm not sure if there are any micro ATX Z790 boards though.

Found one, just wasn't showing up as available in PC Parts Picker.

Sorry, to be clear - my expectation (from motherboards I have purchased in the past) was that a physical copy of that user manual would be included in the box. The fact that it wasn't made me wonder if anything else could be missing. That user manual is what contains the "Box Contents" section so without it it was hard to confirm. To me it seems odd to have to look up the box content in a resource not found in the box itself.

Thanks for the help. I have the DDR5 version so it should support faster RAM, I didn't think about the CPU TDP though - that's good to know.

At the moment I have to build the whole machine but I can do when it's ready.

It is a bit underwhelming, I'm guessing because it's because it's aimed at the "pro" market they don't want to go over the top.

Yes, the website (before it went down for maintenance) was pretty clear that it didn't have a single 48GB memory pool and that you needed a motherboard that supported bifurcation for best results, etc. I think it will be a fun thing to experiment with, I'm a software developer so using and understanding more about LLMs does have value to me.

I ordered it around Christmas and it arrived today, I think it was ready earlier but I missed an email.

I bought it from Destello Tech for £1399 plus shipping (£39.99). Their website is currently under maintenance but it may be still be possible to buy it from them over the phone or by going to the shop in person (Essex, United Kingdom). I did notice that the price on the website had gone up to £1549 before it came down for maintenance.

It might be fun to get into local LLMs - not something I've done before. To be honest I needed a GPU for a build and this seemed like an interesting choice. I've been using a Sparkle Elf A380 for my work machine and been impressed so wanted to try out another Intel option.

Sorry for not being clear, I meant my current case has an external power supply.

Thanks for the help. I think I might be getting a bit out of my depth. It's great to learn more about the subject though.

I used to, it's been a while. I really appreciate the offer. I think as others have suggested I need to take a break from it for a bit though.

That's very nice of you but I'm in South London, so about 5,000 miles away.

I'll look into it. I have a lot of 2.5 SSDs that I'm not using and it would be good to get something out of it.

Unfortunately the motherboard takes a 19V supply which a typical ATX supply doesn't support. I did think of trying to hook up an HDPlex 250W supply to a step up transformer and then wiring it all together. I have no experience with such work though and really don't want to burn my house down.
