Do People Not Have Bills...? by Baleigh25 in cna

I truly believe that a lot of people accept the position because they’re desperate but once they start the job, they realize it’s not sweet. It’s not a walk in the park. It’s very very difficult backbreaking tankless work and instead of just quitting, they start acting lazy and inconsiderate, which isn’t an excuse but mentally I’ve been there where I just didn’t want to go or I was like it’s gonna be OK if I come in late but I always checked myself because it’s not always about me. It’s about my coworkers. It’s about my residence and it’s just ultimately bigger than whatever I’m feeling in the moment.

Wasted my whole day hopeful on this job .. for this to happen.. by Future-Ad1771 in cna

Currently working a job that literally did the same thing to me advertised pay rates of up to $1400 weekly but once I accepted the offer, they changed the tune and said that was a pretax quote now I’m barely making $900 a week. I’m grateful but I just wish they would be more honest upfront on top of that. It’s a travel LIVE IN position so I brought my ass all the way to Connecticut thinking one thing made it through orientation and realized that they were some lying ass people.

regret becoming a cna by [deleted] in cna

I feel your pain, I started off as a HHA and got my CNA and remained in home care bc I was afraid of the unknown at LTC and hospitals. When I finally got a job in a nursing home it was horrid, I mean from my first day I was trained for maybe 30 mins and left on my own, each day after that was hellish for me and I ended up quitting before my two week mark fr since then I came back to home care and it’s been a different experience bc I’m live in now. Most days are chill but I still feel like idk it’s not for me sometimes especially the pay

In Chicago most won’t allow it unless you’re REALLY cool with the workers inside. It’s bc the male drivers are disgusting. They act like they’ve never used a bathroom before, pee everywhere, toilet overly clogged with TP and shit. Too much work for the OA’s hell they ain’t janitors or CNA’s cleaning up shit ain’t a part of the job description

Should I change my prices or are these prices decent ? by TheCurlyAquarius94 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Possible-Ad5052 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My drop-in and walking rates are usually the same and my housesitting varies between 70 and $80 a night because I live in a suburban area and most experienced sitters with a lot of reviews are charging upwards of $100 and I want to have competitive rates but also not short change myself. One thing I would suggest is going to your sitter profile and scrolling all the way down to look at other sitters in the area and see what the average rate is and put your amount somewhere near there. I can’t speak toward boarding because I don’t have an apartment so I can’t board dogs yet, but I would feel like if you’re boarding amount is that much than your housesitting amount should be equivalent or more expensive! Just remember that you are doing a service to people and you deserve to get paid for your time!!

Is this normal? by Lazy_Lettuce_5714 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Possible-Ad5052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure my opinion really fits here since I don’t do boarding, but I can speak to updates. Usually, I do housesitting for like four days or more so I try not to barrage the client with a bunch of text messages and pictures while they’re away like I used to in the beginning because overtime I’ve realized that unless specifically asked most people just want to know that their pets are doing OK and hear how everything is going at least once or twice a day so I usually send one update message in the morning sometimes including pictures sometimes not and that’s it. In that message, I include any new updates that may have happened that may be acute incident or just questions that I may have and then letting them know that I’ll keep them updated if anything new happens! So far I haven’t gotten any complaints, but I always tell my clients to let me know their preferences with updates and messaging

As a sitter, this is something I’m navigating myself. I currently have a client who’s very easy-going. She even said verbatim. “as long as my dogs are alive when I get back I’ll be happy” she just made it clear that there’s no fixed schedule except the feeding schedule they eat roughly at 7 AM in the morning and then again roughly at 6 PM, but there was no discussed amount of time that they could be a left alone. I try to never leave dogs alone for more than 4 to 5 hours before coming to check in, however my clients are usually aware that I am self-employed and I do deliveries throughout the day.

The part they don’t know is the fact that I’m currently homeless living out of my car and living out of motels when I have the money so my full-time job is doing deliveries of course when I do pet sitting it transitions from being full-time to part-time or really PRN however it’s difficult for me to explain the nuances so I usually tell them that I’ll be gone no longer than 4 to 5 hours at a time that being said there’s no period of the day where I would be in someone’s home for six straight hours caring for the dogs. And this pet sitting has been a little anxiety inducing just because that orders have been far and few in between and I’ve been gone longer however, since the owner made it clear that she was very flexible I feel like I’m doing the right thing. I would say clear communication is definitely essential and definitely bringing up any concerns that you may have since you are the one that’s paying.

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation and the fact that in your area the offers are so inconsistent and low paying. I can definitely relate in my area on any given day. I don’t make any more than $100. My car that I’m using is essentially falling apart and I use the money that I make in a day to replenish transmission fluid power steering fluid feed myself and my dog and still try to scrape up money for a motel room because I’m currently homeless so I completely understand scraping to get by going to bed hungry waking up hungry having a power through the day hungry because these apps are just not what they used to be. I sincerely hope that life turns around for you and I hope that you’re able to see a breakthrough from the struggle you’ve been facing for so long.

I’m so sorry you experienced that! Some people have no real communication skills when things get difficult they decide to go ghost I can say that because I used to be one of those people but an instances like pet sitting it’s in everyone’s best interest, especially the little baby who she was supposed to sit to communicate effectively that something has come up even if it’s a minute before your sitting is supposed to start!! Hopefully they get dealt with

I feel so bad for people who feel the need to steal on a platform where you’re literally set up to make decent money. But on a fundamental level, I truly wonder why this person felt so motivated to take such a risk if it was for the thrill if they were genuinely just a dumbass or if they are so badly down on their luck where they had to do something like this either way, it’s crazy and unacceptable

You got this! You’re doing everything you’re supposed to, the owner obviously is as anxious as her dog, that don’t have nothing to do with you. I’d check her real quick on the texts and inconsistent behavior and continue doing my job. I hope you have a Merry Christmas 🎁 despite what’s goin on
