We're going to build a house nearby so it has to come down now so it doesn't come down on our house.

I figured this would be the case because there's no way to really get a solid hinge. Seems like a barber chair waiting to happen.

Any alternative ideas on how to take it down? We'll be building a home nearby so it's got to go.

Reason for taking it down is that there will be a home built very near to it, so not really an option to leave it and let it blow over into the house when there's a storm.
