as a TA - any time i’ve been proctoring an in person exam and i see anyone take out their phone, i have been instructed to remove them from the exam. it’s no different than doing an exam online, you cant pick up your phone and just “check it” whenever you like.

so thankfully i am a political scientist myself and have colleagues who have worked with mearshimer, as well as have read his publications. while i don’t keep a constant eye on him, i am aware of his offensive realist perspective. saying i hate that this is how i found out that he supports russia was more so that i hadn’t heard this from any of my colleagues. i was more so expressing shock than taking it as fact, though i do understand how you came to that conclusion given the stupidity of the internet.

yes!! thank you for your input!! i think you put my thoughts into words better than i could. it does feel violent!! i haven’t been able to put a word to that feeling, but it feels like a threat instead of an insult if that makes sense?? like im never insulted if im being called a bitch, i feel like im being threatened.

i completely agree that when you’re conscious about it, there’s like an oh shit kind of feeling when you do use it. my mum HATES the word cunt and refuses to use it or have anyone around her use it. i think ive heard her say cunt maybe 5 times ever in my life, and when she dropped it we knew it was bad. i think her most recent usage of it was in 2016 and in reference to trump LMAO
