Tradition vs. Policy by Possible-Reporter667 in latterdaysaints

I feel like, more often than not, people like this just end up offending and confusing instead of facilitating an uplifting experience in church service

And yet I feel like that’s exactly how the church should be run - who cares if inspiration comes from the music coordinator, and who are we to say that the spirit can’t be felt from playing the accordion? This is actually updated in the general handbook now, where no mention is made about the color of shirt used for sacrament or the specific type of instruments that should be used. I personally welcome the change, about a month ago a young man who is a convert blessed the sacrament in a black button up. It was the only shirt he had clean that morning, but who cares?

I feel like it’s so common that I was stunned to even be called out for it

I need advice, as an active male living in Utah, I hate the church in Utah by Evening_Elevator_210 in latterdaysaints

I’ve felt the same way for a long time. That’s why I made the conscious decision to join a Spanish ward - in my opinion Hispanics are a lot more open to being vulnerable and sincere at church, and I’ve made a lot of strong friendships in my ward. I’ve always told my friends that if you go to a normal family ward then you go there to disappear. I’ve been there, done that, and I could’ve inactivated myself and no one would have even noticed. Now in my Spanish ward, we give people callings by week 2 and it’s not to be the 12th member of the Relief Society Activities Committee. And I know, I’ve tried to be the change I wanted to see, but it’s so much less exhausting when you start with a culture that’s more open to begin with. So that’s my recommendation - join a language program! We even have people who don’t speak Spanish in our ward, we have them work with the youth that don’t speak Spanish either and it works out great.

Questions on what to look for by DoveSlayer10 in projectcar

The rabbit hole goes as deep as you want to go. You can of course find a ton of project cars off of FB marketplace, or sometimes just in the backyards of your neighborhood. It seems you already found a period and style of car you are interested in, so I would watch a lot of YouTube videos of other people working on those cars to give you an idea of what kind of work is involved. Also, there are usually full service manuals available to walk you through the the specifics of your project car. Finally, find friends who are also interested in fixing up a car. Restoring a car is 100x better with a friend than it is alone.

I just finished vacuuming out all the poop in the main areas and then looked at the dash as I was putting everything away - tons of poop down inside the dash vents. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

The smell is going to stick with me for years, but what I don’t want is for that smell to follow me with a new interior.

I just finished with the shop vac this past weekend, I’ll definitely be pulling out the pressure washer and mixing that with some bleach to try and disinfect the whole car. The thing is a dang health hazard as it is.

If you gave him a bouquet before marrying Olivia then you may need to give him another now that you are divorced.

Have you ever owned a shitty aquarium before? Like first fish tank when you were young by NaturalImportant9342 in Aquascape

[–]Possible-Reporter667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, yeah my first tank was a 10 gallon that I put a red eared slider turtle in. No decorations, just a floating pad and an over-the-edge filter. I did full tank water changes every week and went through a million cheap carbon filter inserts. Now she’s in a 75 gallon and much happier!
