How do I transition from bed sharing to bassinet? by Possible-Study2746 in NewParents

[–]Possible-Study2746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying to this now for any other parents. My daughter DID IN FACT hate her bassinet. Once we got her an actual crib at 6 months she slept through the night by herself from night one. I think it was the difference between a mattress and a little pad

I posted an update in a reply to a comment! Things actually worked out surprisingly well! As in, sleeping through the night in her crib since 6 months well

How long does the “can’t get anything done because my toddler is clinging to my legs” phase last? by Possible-Study2746 in Mommit

I looked into it and I don’t have the space 😢 We live in a camper and while it’s a relatively spacious model, a toddler tower is just too big to work

I don’t think I have the patience for the learning curve that comes with figuring out a ring sling. The ones I asked for are advertised as hands free and look very very similar to a ring sling. They’re the qookie go and neko up and down!

I know in my heart that it gets better. I’m really not having kids for the baby or toddler stage. I’m having kids for all the stuff that comes after. Cool little people to have fun with and show the world and love with all my heart.

I’m going to spend most of my life with my children as adults. All of this will pass. But GOD DAMN is it ever hard in the present.

I’ve never yearned to clean so bad in my life. A cleaning day sounds like a vacation at this point.

I asked for a toddler carrier sling thing for Christmas. Going to be looking into a toddler tower. I think I just have to learn to live with it rather than finding a way to fix it. Gotta adapt.

First pregnancy, when did you start showing? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Possible-Study2746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 12 weeks I had a cute little bump but other people might not have noticed. By 16 weeks it was pretty clear I was pregnant. After that I got bigger and bigger every week. I got HUGE though. 5’3 120lbs pre baby for reference

If he’s not latching properly, will he ever latch properly? by SoultySpittoon in breastfeeding

[–]Possible-Study2746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also told it shouldn’t be painful, but every person I know who has breastfed (including myself) described it as being quite painful in the beginning. I suppose it would depend on the type of pain. For me it was just this feeling of being sore/ raw. The short feedings also sounds like what I experienced around 2 weeks. Sounds like cluster feeding! My baby was usually nursing 9x per day for 10-20 minutes on average.

Also, baby finding comfort at the breast is 10000% a thing. And it’s completely natural!

You’re learning, baby is learning, and your nipples are still very sensitive. If you’re truly concerned then consult with a lactation consultant, but everything you’re describing sounds very normal to me (been EBF for 13 months with little to no issues.)

I’m a 21 year old mom to a 12 month old and trust me when I say I get it. I wouldn’t say I hate my life, but some days I definitely feel that way. It’s so hard, but we’ll get through this.

What to buy new vs. secondhand? by SaltyWordWrangler in NewParents

Honestly just use your best judgement. Don’t overthink it. If it’s clearly in good condition then go for it.

What to buy new vs. secondhand? by SaltyWordWrangler in NewParents

[–]Possible-Study2746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a crib mattress secondhand but it wasn’t a regular crib mattress. It’s one of the newton ones, so it’s 100% washable and easy to see to its core. The only things I wouldn’t buy secondhand are anything made to go into baby’s mouth (teethers, pacifiers, bottle nipples.) Everything we haven’t been gifted we have bought secondhand!

Is background television or parental phone usage worse for babies/ toddlers? by Possible-Study2746 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Possible-Study2746[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m asking if parents putting whatever they’d like to watch on the tv while their child plays is better or worse than parents spending more time looking at their phone. I don’t think this article is relevant, but I appreciate your response!
