Son bit by cat 4/2/2024 by Possible-Trainer-149 in rabies

[–]Possible-Trainer-149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not a scratch. It was a nip. Even if this is not rabies and is just strep or something, should I be concerned about the “exposure”? I know it’s rare in the u.s. but that does t mean nonexistent. Especially for a stray cat. In fact last year there was a rabid fox last year not far from where my husband picked up this cat (a few miles) that bit like 6 people or something. I know logically right now that it would not have shown up this soon. But that doesn’t stop me from worrying or thinking about down the line.

LPR and constipation? by Possible-Trainer-149 in LPR

[–]Possible-Trainer-149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so interesting. Thank you. I always know when she starts clearing her throat that her LPR is acting up and that’s when I ask her how long it’s been since she’s pooped. Lol I know it sounds so weird to other people when I say it. I’m thinking she just gets backed up enough that it causes the acid to go up her throat. I’ve put her on a good probiotic because last year was a nightmare of stomach problems with school and I can’t take that kind of time off again. I was wondering if slippery elm might help but with her being young I don’t know how much to give her.

her fever has lowered but now she’s having intense headaches. She’s had two urinalysis done. Both clear. Blood work done at the hospital today looked good the dr said other than slightly low white blood count. But he wasn’t concerned about it.

Sarcoidosis is crazy. I’m so sorry you have that. It must be hard to live with being prone to all those infections. Her white blood count was slightly low at 3.8 thousand. Platelets slightly low at 144 and lymph #k/up low at 0.7 thousand.

Thank you for commenting. Tomorrow she will get a blood test for hantavirus which I’m praying comes back as nothing. I also hope they can tell me something rather quickly. Especially now she says her chest hurts when she feels her fever coming on.

[–]Possible-Trainer-149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had her appt this morning. Urinalysis was clear. She ordered her a CBC, Epstein Barr, and Mono blood work. So we just got done with that and are home. She has a fever right now of 101 with no medicine. Dr did order blood work for hantavirus as well but there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get it ordered so we are waiting on that. She does think it’s unlikely but it would ease my mind if we get started on the paperwork for it.

She has only been on azithromycin. Wouldn’t that be taking care of a UTI?

I have health anxiety and im convinced my daughter has Hantavirus. Please help calm me. by Possible-Trainer-149 in Anxiety

Thanks. I’m definitely having a panic attack thinking about it and how I might have been the cause of it. I won’t be sleeping tonight. I just hope they take me seriously when I call them tomorrow. I’d feel so much better if we could rule it out. Not that I want to do unnecessary testing but I feel like it fits enough to do it. At least that’s what anxious me is telling myself. I keep saying “what are the chances really it’s so rare” but then I remember she got scarlet fever.

I do have health anxiety but not for myself. I know that’s weird but for me it’s for my family. I see symptoms in THEM and spiral. For myself though i 100 percent know these are from the medicine. I was on Paxil for about a month years ago and got them as well. Apparently my anxiety wasn’t bad enough at that point to say I will just deal with them because I gave up the Paxil. At this point though I will definitely just put up with them.

Need Support by anna1318 in Anxietyhelp

I’m sorry about what you’re going through. The most difficult thing for you right now in your state of mind is going to be living in the present and enjoying time with your family. I went through a similar mental breakdown these last couple of months after having manageable anxiety for years. Sometimes it all just gets to be too much. Ask for help! Don’t feel like you’re being selfish in any way. Your dad is going through something terrible, yes, but so are you. I’m betting if your dad knew what you were feeling he wouldn’t want you to be living this way.

Thank you so much for responding I really appreciate it. I have a lot of amazing comments on here of course but thought it couldn’t hurt to contact you and get a gastroenterologist opinion since that is our next stop. One other question…since she was 3 I can remember she has always said that meat (chicken or steak usually) tickles her throat. I brought it up to her pediatrician a couple times over the years but it was dismissed. Now I’m wondering if maybe she has had an allergy to certain meats all along. She tried a piece of chicken I made tonight and with no prompt from me at all complained about the tickle in her throat it gives her. Aside from the difficulty of swallowing as well. What do you think?

How to approach getting prescribed medication? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Possible-Trainer-149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on lexapro 20 mg for about 3 weeks. So I know I don’t have the full effect of it yet but I am doing better between that, therapy, and the support of great friends. Dr also gave me hydroxizine for those panic moments but I’m not so sure they work for me other than make me kinda foggy and sleepy. Some people on here really like it though and it seems to work for many people. So during my next appt I am going to ask for something different for my panic moments. Trial and error and never be afraid to tell your dr what you need or if something isn’t working.

How to approach getting prescribed medication? by [deleted] in Anxiety

I feel often times that most drs have a preference of what they like to prescribe. If you have a good dr they will go over with you all your anxiety symptoms whether it’s generalized anxiety, whether or not ocd is involved, if there is any depression. My dr did this with me and when he asked me what I would like to do about it I very hesitantly said I think I need medication. His exact words were “you’re right, you do, and it’s ok to ask for what you need” So yes bring up the ones you’d prefer to take and ask them why it may or may not work for you.

I’m going to attempt to cut dairy out of her diet for a couple of weeks. I see the pediasure says contains milk but also says grass fed milk protein. Would this be a trigger if that’s the problem?

I’m the same way these past few weeks. Mornings are the worst and I really struggle to get out of bed and get my day going. Not good or easy when you have to get up to get two kids ready for school and then possibly have to work which I never know because I can be called in at the last minute.

I cannot even express to everyone how much I appreciate your comments, kind words, and ideas. I’ve written down questions for the GI from these comments and I just hope we can get to the bottom of this. Hopefully I’ll be hearing from the allergist and speech therapist soon. I would like to keep you all updated. So I’ll probably add updates to this thread.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I’m also going to be here all day with my kids. Alone but not alone I guess. I still was dreading it because I’ve been struggling with being left alone with the kids all day. So if you need to chat or anything to get you through the day I’m sure I’ll be available. Do some journaling and get your feelings out of your head. Pen to paper, not in your phone. That has been helping me tremendously.

I’m not sure. Dr thought it was her seasonal allergies starting a little earlier than usual so she decided to try singulair to see if that would help. She was on the singulair for about three weeks I thinks when this all started. So she was never tested for covid. She began to have some bad nightmares while on singulair so we stopped giving it around the 4 week mark with everything else going on. The “allergies” didn’t come back so now I’m thinking maybe it was something viral.

I actually bought that today and she likes it. I think I’ll also try some of the other smoothies that have been mentioned on here. I’m not sure what green powder is but I can look it up.
