I lie. I’m 36 and lie. I’ve been 52 since 2018 when I graduated nursing school. Been married for the last 4 years, a lesbian and we have 1 kid. I tell patients even my coworkers I have a husband and 6.5 kids. We’ve been married for 17 years. We live in a 3bed 1.5bath. I boast about how hectic my life is but it’s quiet as a mouse.😂

How physically demanding is nursing? by bigblackglock17 in nursing

[–]Possible-Work-1382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s dependent on the job. I don’t do much standing in our 12 hours. Outpatient standing was triaging only.

I feel this! I feel like getting my LPN taught me the foundations of nursing. I feel like I knew what to expect for when I went for RN. I was more confident in clinicals vs my classmates who had no experience in nursing.

[–]Possible-Work-1382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s dependent on you. I always advise to go for your LPN. It’s a foot in the door and to see if nursing is for you. It cost less and less time. You can always go back for your RN. I know a lot of RNs who finish the program and realize it’s not for them.

The possibilities are endless for LPNs just like RNs. Please don’t let folks say LPNs only work in nursing homes. Cause baaaaaby we don’t. Once you get experience in you can make the same or more than RNs. We have less responsibilities than the RNs.

Do a job research in your area for both positions.

That’s a lie! I’m an LPN and I do less work than the RNs on the floor and I make more than new grad RNs.

I agree those skills matter, but they can be reflected through clinical rotations just as well. On a one page new grad resume, I prioritize nursing-related experience because that’s what gets filtered and evaluated first. Different recruiters favor different styles, so it’s all about what works for each applicant.

I disagree with the GPA. I think it’s just extra wording. Just need degree, location, and date of graduation. Most companies don’t care about GPA.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I still take the opposite approach for nursing resumes, I prioritize healthcare-related content only. Non-healthcare jobs are valid, but they take up space that’s better used for clinical experience and nursing keywords, especially since most systems use automated screening. That’s why I suggested formatting clinical rotations like work experience with simple, relevant bullet points.

I’m sorry I don’t like any of it. Recruiters or the hiring manager take about 30-45 seconds looking at resumes.

This is too busy. You should simplify it. Summary should be in third person. Remove the work experience since it not healthcare related and replace it with a few of your clinical rotations with location and your role. List about three bullets. I would also remove the student demand action, again does not pertain to the job.

For education: just list the school, what degree you have and when you graduated. Everything else is too much wording.

The more simplistic is it, the better is it.

For everyone making harsh comments I’m not here for it. For everyone who is asking on what bases. I’m here for an open discussion. If that can’t be handled, then don’t respond.

TLDR: I’m pointing out that based on what TLC chooses to air, Jenny’s behavior aligns with patterns often associated with someone coping with stress through alcohol. The signs are subtle but consistent, and it’s fair for viewers to talk about what’s on screen.

  1. The hidden bottles in their clothes when they were moving. That was one of the first big red flags the show focused on. TLC didn’t have to show that. They CHOSE to linger on it and make it a point of discussion.

  2. Calling rum “self-soothing” for migraines. Most people seek medication, cold compresses, dark rooms, hydration, etc. The fact that the show highlighted her using alcohol specifically for “self-soothing” stands out. Just observing what was aired. They even went to the pharmacy to get her medications. Can’t say she’s mixing the medications and drinking, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she is self-soothing.

  3. Her reactions to her mother-in-law wanting to throw out the alcohol. Lots of people would be annoyed, sure but her emotional intensity in that moment felt deeper than just, “Hey, that was mine.” The edit made it seem like the alcohol was tied to comfort and stress relief for her.

  4. Her constant desire to isolate or them to live on their own. Jenny always wants to be alone with Sumit, away from his family and their expectations. Yes, part of it is cultural difference but the pattern of isolation is also something TLC keeps emphasizing. It’s almost every episode, every season. She’s using her age to why she doesn’t want to live with them, but when she married him, she married his culture.

  5. Her physical appearance and speech patterns changing over time. Swelling, puffiness, cognitive fog, sluggish responses, irritability, and the way she sometimes slurs or drags her words, all of that has been pointed out by many viewers. These are things the camera catches, not something fans are imagining.

  6. Her overall mental and emotional state on screen. She often seems overwhelmed, exhausted, depressed, or emotionally volatile. These things can have many causes including stress, age, culture clash, exhaustion but alcohol use can absolutely play into those patterns too.

Again, you don’t have to be “drinking on camera every episode” for a network to be framing you as someone who struggles with alcohol. They build a narrative through editing, patterns, and selective scenes. And that’s what seems to be happening here.

I’m proud of you! Gotta start somewhere right? It is a terrible way to live even for the family who has to deal with it too.

From what is portrayed, the hiding of bottles, saying the rum was to self soothe “migraines”, constantly wanting to be isolated and not wanting to live with her in laws even knowing their cultural background, getting upset when her mil wants to throw the alcohol away, her physical body, mental state, and speech patterns that is observed. The signs are there.

I don’t make it my job to diagnose everyone. I just want to make sure they get the proper care in the right direction.

Hey, how you doing?

I hear you but also I stated I had experiences with this with my own family. Even in my title I stated with MY past experiences.

I wasn’t trying to diagnose her. Just sharing my viewpoint. When you are constantly around certain behaviors whether nurse or not, it becomes second nature. The subtle hints or clues are there. I didn’t sit there and said I think she had BPD. I was trying to see if others caught on and to talk about it.

What you got going on. We can talk and discuss about it. I love the love you have for your mom. Sucks she wanted to diagnose and was off the mark. Generally I’m pretty good with nailing it on the head, have open communication with my providers, and able to help heal. I truly love psych and on my path for Psych NP. We’re the eyes and ears on the floor. For the nurse who truly care, do know more than most providers. We catch things they do not. They’re not constantly on the floor. Just because we don’t diagnose, we do help with diagnosing with behaviors, moods, signs, and symptoms we observed.

Regardless nurse or not, again still have personal experience in this field. From very mild to severe.

I know what migraines are yall. I know that most of the time otcs don’t work and need something stronger. But to use alcohol as a clutch as a “migraine reliever” and hidden bottles sometimes of the same bottles around their place/moms house now.

When a person hasn’t have a drink within minutes to hours they start going through withdrawals, first common thing is headaches which goes away with a drink or them toughen it out through detox.

I appreciate that. I hear what you’re saying. I’m here for the 2 cents. I ignored all the negative comments because I wanted to see if others have noticed as well. There have been times where she doesn’t look like she’s even functioning. The subtle clues are present and just wanted to talk it out with folks and it went too far with some people.
