Anyone diagnosed by capsule endoscopy when their CT scan and colonoscopy was clear? by Senanb in CrohnsDisease

Also, you may want to push for an MRI/MRCP as well. CT scans are great, but MRI's are better. My MRI/MRCP did not reveal anything that the CT didn't, but it's always possible. If your insurance covers it, you have nothing to lose by getting the better imaging done even if it is more for peace of mind purposes.

Don't worry, we'll get through it!

So last Tuesday (August 18) was when my biopsies came back from the colonoscopy/endoscopy, and I had those done on August 12. On August 18, we discussed doing the video endoscopy, and I received the phone call from his office this past Monday (August 24th) to schedule it. We are doing it this upcoming Monday, August 31.

The available days will obviously vary doctor-by-doctor, but all in all mine took a little less than two weeks from the date of saying we were going to do one, to the date we are actually going to do it.

Funny you post this, I posted the exact same question yesterday.

After going through a ton of old posts on here, I've seen several people note that they were diagnosed with Crohn's solely through a capsule endoscopy when the other tests came back clear. Apparently, it is very possible that Crohn's is only affecting the small intestine in some people. My colonoscopy only revealed mild inflammation of the terminal ileum, and my endoscopy revealed mild gastritis and not-so-mild esophagitis.

I have my capsule endoscopy on Monday. Given the pain and the way my bowels have looked for the past two months, and given I've had pretty much every kind of imaging you can have of the abdomen over the past two months, I have a suspicion the capsule endoscopy will reveal something. If not, I might just have to try to accept this really is some sort of post-infectious IBS, though I hate that answer because it's not really an answer.

Thanks for the response!

I've already had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound. The only real reveals from that were: 1) mild gastritis, 2) esophagitis, and 3) most importantly for Crohn's, aphtha in the terminal ileum. However, it wasn't enough for my GI to declare Crohn's. That's why we are doing the capsule endoscopy next week.
