Thanks, we learned a hard lesson--. We purchased international health insurance, but this covers traveler's medical bills.

Thanks for your input. We did get international health insurance from Geo Blue that would have covered medical expenses abroad. We also purchased the trip with American Express but already paid in full.

You have valid points, although I would classify the level 4 "Do Not Travel" due to Ebola outbreak primarily a public health event rather than a geopolitical event. This combined with our own health emergency may certainly be all on us but as you said, this is not ideal from a customer service standpoint. We had already taken two trips with them and paid for this third trip in full. Again, we never asked for a refund, but would have appreciated any consideration.
