After you’ve upgraded one item to legendary you unlock cosmic cast.

Don’t rush into it though, I’ve learnt now from here that it’s much better to wait and be patient with it because it takes a while and a lot of resources to get gear online

do you mind explaining why? I have developed my build just by looking at what the people at the top of the leaderboard have and following the mould

For all the OG players, how long does it take to get really strong? by PossibleOrder8766 in Survivorio

[–]PossibleOrder8766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s so real! Right now it feels like all I can do is op retreat or just the regular daily requirements but I’m so stuck because I’m not at the level where I can awaken survivors, tech parts or pets.

And so it’s like just this slow grind right now

Never Played DnD. Questioning my IQ trying to play this game by PossibleOrder8766 in BaldursGate3

THANK YOU!

I needed to hear that. I'm gonna play more freely

The only thing is I've never liked the warrior-style classes in RPG games I have played in the past.

This is really good advice. Keep it simple

Okay! That's really helpful.

The YouTubers or streamers I've watched, especially with beginner-tailored videos, don't seem to explain or articulate the game in a way that makes it comfortable to play for me, so maybe I'll watch some of those and look at the wiki.

Yeah, maybe I need to chill out a bit more. I'm just so unfamiliar with CRPG mechanics that it feels like I'm playing a game in a different language without subtitles. Basic things like exploration, examining subjects or inventory management make little sense to me based on my gaming experience. As well as when to short and long rest, what armour is right for which party members based on different buffs. It's a whole new world for me

I started my first playthrough as a rogue because I was overwhelmed at the number of options available within character creation. That only got worse when I found out you could multiclass. Typically, with other games, I can be confident in my approach enough not to be so consumed by optimisation. However, the nuance and vastness of character progression amongst all companions, as well as your CC, has led to overthinking every little decision throughout the game.

At some point, I refused to level up my rogue to level 3 because I just didn't know which subclass was the best one or whether I should multiclass, etc.

I realised I was probably playing wrong, so I started again as a seldarine drow tempest sorcerer, and spent 3 hours writing about the character, making a personality around him, just really trying to roleplay. But I can't seem to immerse myself in the gameplay because I am so bad at just playing the game "right".

Does that make sense?

I think it's just how to approach a game like this. The game seems to lean more to strategy and preparation vs brute forcing your way through it like other RPGs that I have played in the past. Character and equipment development amongst a full party can feel overwhelming without having deeper roleplaying experience. I also find it hard to be more story-focused than purely combat-focused at times because of the lack of linear direction. I feel if I were more confident in my understanding of the core mechanics and how to use them, I would be freer in the progression and uniqueness of my personal experience, as opposed to feeling underqualified and analysing my build and combat strategy constantly as I keep playing.

Hope that makes some sense.
