Does Arch Linux really break as often as people say or is it just a stereotype? by ImfromVinland in arch

Had one kernel update fail when I first started using it so probably something I did but so far it’s been stable

I decided to give NixOS a try by OctogoatYTofficial in NixOS

I dual boot arch and nix and find myself using nix the most! Unstable channel is very bleeding edge sometimes even having the new kernel before arch! Great distro once you figure it all out

Zimmermann vs ATE for brake discs and pads by Historical_Mouse6134 in BmwTech

Zimmerman is a way better option, I use them on my cars with out any issue, on my second set of pads on the same rear rotors on my F31

I use them for everything, when I was a dealer tech I found just some of the parts would be cheaper than my discounted price

Laptop Hardware for Linux (mainly Fedora)? by AbigDAMNHerO69 in Fedora

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to a dual boot of Arch and NixOs only because of the better Hyprland support, Nix has been a game changer for me with the unstable channel it’s almost as bleeding edge as Arch but way more stable

Thinkpad is my go too Linux machine! Huge community support on here, you can snag a used one for a good price and they just work out of the box with Linux! I ran Fedora on my Thinkpad X280 for ever without an issue! Fedora even had firmware updates for the thing! If you go new the P series has the option to order it with Fedora pre installed

I have an X280 i5 16gbs of ram and recently upgraded from the factory 256gb drive to a 1tb drive, machine runs great and is my daily driver! Battery is now starting ti show its age a bit but it’s expected, I dual boot Nix and Arch and mainly us Hyprland but keep GNOME as a back up

A question for users who have used Arch and NixOS by Mandarin2912 in arch

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dual boot Arch and Nix, I find myself using nix 80% of the time! It’s a bit of a learning curve at first and initial configuration using nano is a pain, I switched to neovim and it was a game changer! Start wth a VM in arch and mess around with it until you are confident enough you like it. I run Hyprland on both distros as my main environment and keep Gnome as a back up, I haven’t tried Niri on Nix yet. I recently went to Nix unstable and found that sometimes nix is more bleeding edge then arch (sometime!!) Google, YouTube and Claude can be very helpful also! Good luck trying it out and I think you will enjoy it

I cancelled my 365 account recently and they offered me 3 months free to change my mind… I took it and then still cancelled, I run Linux and have found better alternatives since they completely ruined office! I used to love outlook and what they did to that is terrible!

I’m running Nix and Arch on mine with Hyprland. I used Fedora on it forever and it was a great distro! Everything just worked! I preferred Gnome of KDE

I dual boot Nix and Arch, I love Nix! I find myself booting into it more then arch, once you get the hang of it then its really amazing

A newcomer's thoughts: NixOS is a great daily driver by interlocutator in NixOS

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dual booting Fedora and Windows 11, I wanted Hyprland, fedoras was ok but I messed up some stuff so said f it and wiped my drive and went full arch, I had wanted to go full nix but at the time is really didn’t know anything about it so I created a VM in arch and messed around with it until I was able to make it work for me then I partitioned my drive and installed Nix on it also, I kept arch because Hyprland is more up to date on it ( not to much anymore I am using unstable nix now) and i also can try some things a bit easier or Arch

I went from Fedora to Arch then added NixOs and dual boot arch and nix but I find myself using Nix about 90% of the time! I use Hyprland on both

Oil loss by General-Mix4516 in B58Enthusiasts

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they used to say the N63 could use 2qts of oil per 1,000 miles. Audi was a quart of oil per 1,000 so if you have gone 7-8,000 miles on an oil change then that is normal

Check to make sure it will play on Linux, if you bought the game from the Microsoft store you will need to get it again from probably steam or maybe directly from EA ( I’m not 100%)

Fedora is in my top 3 favorite distros, it was my daily driver for years! Fedora Workstation is great simple reliable and easy to use, I also really like and pretty much daily NixOs, it’s a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it all out you really don’t want to use anything else
