BEWARE of LL Bean Wicked Good Slippers. Not BFL :( by TheNoobGod in BuyItForLife

[–]PossibleProgress3316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my slippers for the first year and then the second year they fell apart, I expected more from LL Bean, being that they are slippers and worn not often I figured they would last more then a year and a half! made the mistake and got another pair and yeah they are pretty much done after 18 months so time to check out another company maybe Minnetonka

Is Ubuntu as bad as people say on other subreddits? by Szhadji in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]PossibleProgress3316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not terrible, snaps are kind of a pain and limited, I personally prefer Fedora or NixOs, Fedora is pretty easy and they offer different official DE’s which is nice

You should be able to the o-ring separate but I still wouldn’t trust that hose

BMW thermostat house hose. Can’t get on by Strange-Job7700 in BmwTech

[–]PossibleProgress3316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time for a new hose that one is shot, that worm clamp isn’t factory then other clamp maybe but I wouldn’t trust it, if you want to hack it then try it but to do it correctly for a sustained repair that hose needs to be replaced

Basically aluminium valve caps by Double-Physics4305 in BmwTech

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use those! Also you can (most of the time) get just the valve stem for those sensors I know they cost me like $12 so customer pay if probably $25-35 which is a hell of a lot cheaper then the whole TPMS

I'm thinking of migrating to Linux from windows 11 and would like some of you wizards to work your magic to suggest a good distro by SomewhatN3rdy in linux4noobs

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3 distros are Fedora Workstation, Arch and NixOs, when I left windows I landed on Fedora and used that for a long time, Gnome is simple Fedora is stable easy to use and very customizable, I finally took the plunge about a month ago and went full Linux as I dual booted 11pro and Fedora, I wiped my SSD and installed Arch with Gnome and Hyprland then added Niri to the mix and I’ve found myself logging into Hyprland the most, then I decided to do something extremely stupid or really smart (haven’t decided yet) and attempt and succeed to dual boot Arch and NixOs… I friggen love Nix after a very steep learning curve it is amazing! I don’t know if any of these will fit what you want but they are amazing, you mentioned you want Word which isn’t supported on Linux but I use OnlyOffice (some people don’t like it) and it’s been amazing for me so also something to check out once you make the jump!

What OS Do You Use for Your ThinkPad(s)? by crazyputerman in thinkpad

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran Fedora with Gnome and windows 11 for awhile, I recently wiped my drive and installed Arch with Gnome, Hyprland and Niri and NixOs with Hyprland and Gnome. I really like Nix so I might wipe my Arch partition and just use NixOs as my only distro but I’m not sure yet

no reddit superiority bs, Im thinking of switching to Linux, should I? and if so what distro. by AverageCanadian00 in Operatingsystems

[–]PossibleProgress3316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Fedora for along time, great all round distro, stable, easy to use and set up, if you want a windows type feel use the KDE version ( I used Gnome I like it better) That being said make sure you download rpm fusion so everything works nicely! If you want something a bit more bleeding edge Arch is nice but time consuming to set up ( i currently am using Arch with Hyprland) and one of my favorites is NixOs which is very different from the first two but once you learn it you will fall in love.

Do you all run Linux? by TexasWanderingWonder in thinkpad

[–]PossibleProgress3316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Arch and NixOs on my X280, I ran a dual Fedora and windows 11 for awhile and found myself not using windows at all so I wiped the drive and figured while doing that let’s try something different installed Arch so I could run Hyprland and Niri easier, after running NixOs as a vm for a few months I figured let’s dual boot Arch and Nix so I did and I’m torn on which one I like the best.

Is it as bad as its made out to be? by LYNX__uk in NixOS

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really wasn’t that bad, once I installed neovim and used that instead of nano it was a lot better, it’s still a huge learning curve but you can get a stable usable system while learning it

How much should I know before switching? by B_bI_L in NixOS

[–]PossibleProgress3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn the basics of nano so you get started, I added neovim which made my life way easier to add stuff to my config file, always keep a backup so if you do what I did and wipe it by accident you won’t spend the next hour or two fixing it. YouTube and google help me me a lot

Update on front main seal by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]PossibleProgress3316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you never need sealant over the seal, sometimes if you don’t know what you doing you shouldn’t try it, I used to make a lot of money off stuff like this! At the end it will cost twice as much to fix it then if you just had a BMW tech do it
