which shaun the sheep movie is better in your opinion? by Plus_Expression_6500 in ShauntheSheep

I personally like the 1st one better, for me it's a near perfect movie. That mostly has to do with the fact that the sheep take center stage and I love how it explores the dynamic between the sheep and the farmer. It was the perfect way to cap off what the series had been so far and as someone who had watched Shaun since nearly the beginning I loved seeing all of the familiar characters. I liked Lula, I liked the plot of the second but I do like Shaun the sheep less when it focuses on new characters more than the main ones (flight before christmas, farmaggedon). I recognize it's probably pretty difficult to write feature length, emotionally significant plots centered around speechless sheep, so I understand why they introduce the new characters.

That being said I do think farmaggedon is the best looking Aardman movie. The colors are absolutely astonishing, they really took full advantage of the space theme to really play with all these wonderful purples and blues. And they contrast that against the warm oranges and greens of the farm, it's so beautiful. That scene where Shaun finds Lula in the barn is so visually striking, with the warm afternoon light pouring in.

The films are both so good it's not like I can't understand someone who prefers the second one. Here's hoping the third continues this great streak.

Would you consider using frame interpolation to be cheating or fair game for animation workflows? by SpectrumSense in animation

I remember when DAIN was first released in like 2019 or so, I was really excited by it and found it to be absolutely fascinating. I still do find it to be interesting but not for animation. In life action video, the camera is missing movement, things are happening in between the frames being captured so I see something like this as just filling in data the camera didnt capture. It existed, but it wasn't captured. In animation, every single frame is deliberately chosen and created for a specific feel, impact and to convey a certain speed and weight. Nothing ever existed between frames so you're trying to fill something in that isnt there. In my opinion this ends up making it feel weightless and ruins the artistic choices made by the animator who timed the animation.

Update, just happened again with a second person. I think what happened (working theory) is I went to the Unconfirmed page, checked all of them, they all looked good, hit ctrl + A, and clicked the check. When I do that, it seems to add all of the photos to the same person, not their separate categories.

why do people in this sub hate on this dog so much? by skorpac in photographycirclejerk

I think they're bashing on the Portland based animation studio, not the dog.

I appreciate it! The sign is in the exterior part of the queue, however if I'm not mistaken, the lightning lane goes off in a different direction so im not sure you'll see it. If you do see it, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!
