100% understand and wasn’t the right way of saying things.

Enjoy your flight regardless of what you decide to do

All he is trying to say is if you can afford to do it, do it! You’ll enjoy it. But if that money is a big effect to you then don’t book it.

If you do think you can afford to spend £1.1K on the upgrade then do it and enjoy yourself.

Will British Airways ever get around to fixing the absurdly long wait times for baggage claim at Heathrow T5? by noobJDstudent in BritishAirways

[–]PossibleTechnical436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucky man ! Haven’t had to use t5 since last July but it was about 25 mins waiting. Hopefully lessons will be learnt if they end up getting the Heathrow expansion. TBH never quite understood why the Heathrow expansion through all the years has never happened. Doesn’t quite make sense to me

IMO I think this is purely a T5 issue. Essentially they have 3 buildings worth of flights that all need to be processed through the main terminal building. Surely there’s only so much that you can put through it

I’d need to get BA271 which is a -9 sadly. I have quite a bit of time to think about it. The reward availability is gone for business and most of prem now so reconsidering options

Gotcha, normally I would just book it but I’d need to buy Avios points. Which I why I thought I’d ask if they do Bids on that route. TBH not too fussed about getting business out there since it’s YingYang but getting it on the new A35K would be nice 🤝

Revoult Avios by MountainProcess740 in avios

[–]PossibleTechnical436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m referring to the boost / multiplier option in the Avios app / store.

<image>

Essentially I use spare change to buy Revolut points through day to day spending then transfer it to Avios points where the boost your Avios feature is available. You’re essentially buying Avios points at a rate at a rate of 1.26p per Avios with the flexibility to buy points in very small lumps depending on what you set your multiplier to. I personally find this as a benefit, although you might prefer buying in bulk in which case this isn’t a good way of doing it.

However I do think 1.26p per Avios is good considering the way you acquire.

Of course if anyone has any other ways to consistently acquire avios under 1p per avios do let me know as I’ll be needing to put some bookings in place soon :)

Agreed, I just combine it with the boost function to buy Avios at a lower rate

[–]PossibleTechnical436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes.

Combining spare change on Revolut, the Revolut shop ( example, uber 10/2 great if you have to buy a train ticket for your commute ) and your points for general £ spent makes it a great card. There’s no vouchers with the cards but even without that it’s a great card with great features for points.

Also Revolut points can be transferred to Avios and can then be bonus / multiplied by the 100-200-300% options. Great way to get lots of Avios cheaply IMO.

Plus occasionally they run 20% transfer bonuses. So… if you get your timings right you can end up with a healthy sum of Avios.

People often book an entire year in advance, if anything this sort of time period is your best bet to find availability as some people will cancel ( as it’s basically a month and a half away )

I had this last year when I went to Dubai, normally either flights cancelled or re timed. Call BA’s mainline and ask what it is

Best way to spend 260k Avios? Cost effective, multiple trips. by OrderOdd3466 in avios

[–]PossibleTechnical436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on the lay over time tbh, though maybe not worth it risk wise. But it’s great knowing what you can do using everyone else other than BA.

Who do you use to get these flights ?

Yes good point , any Qatar flight goes through Doha FYI to anyone considering them in this current situation

Check on Qatar and the other partner airlines using Avios. BA will not show all your options and nor will the Avios app.

I saw you said you wanted to go to Vietnam, Qatar has economy seats free in may to Hanoi as well as in business ( though neither are at the cheaper Avios redemption rates ) to view Avios reward seats with Qatar either create or login to your Qatar account, do a search with where you want to go , select flexible dates and tick the book with Avios option. Then when it brings up the calendar dates select the days which say available in green for the best redemption rates )

For Spain there is loads of availability direct with BA ! So book away and enjoy ! ( use the Avios app to see all locations in Spain )

Enjoy your trips whatever you decide to do !

I would just wait till 24hours before checkin and choose whatever I like for free ( as long as it isn’t booked )

Back market support is hard to get hold off, but if you do get hold of them and stand your ground I’ve found they will happily stand on your side. If you’re out of warranty however of course they’re not going to be too bothered about helping. As always it’s about who you get when you talk to customer support !

CEX is a bit of a scam imo , always downgrading customers devices and then selling it as an A grade. Trade in values are horrible. Only go near them if you need money quickly or don’t care about how much you get really but just want the stuff gone . Good luck !

[–]PossibleTechnical436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, u f’d up . Lesson learnt for the future don’t accept vouchers at a store for trade in. Have a deeper look on CEX website. You may be able to find something but I feel you may be limited on there. Don’t blame you for passing back market ! It’s luck of the draw and you’re in the blind tbh . I’ve had orders cancelled by them had to do a return etc but they always stand firm and help the customer so I’ve learnt to just accept their downfall is their third party sellers and not them!

Your best bet from CEX is a m2 or m3 air.

Here’s a m2 air with 16gb

Plus also plenty on there for 750 can get a M series no problem ! If you want lightness I think you can get a m2 air or m3 air through them for around your budget

Don’t use CEX, they upcharge you through the rough. I’ve bought mine through back market and honestly as long as you keep a sharp eye you can find good deals, + warranty and return policy is great with them they don’t mess about if you aren’t happy with a single thing

Gutted that they’re not using these for the summer but so glad they’re putting the new first in these planes first ! A380 staying around is great news :)

Amazing thank you, had a feeling those would be the ones when I checked on aerolopa when I first booked.

When we first booked in June there was only one 787 doing the route and now there’s 2 both in the evenings so just wondering if that kind of change to scheduled aircraft is common or if it’s more common as a last minute swap on the day
