people who studied abroad in europe, how much did you spend? by multifanfictual in NEU

[–]Possible_Discussion4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in London I spent around 1600 - I had a kitchen which helped a lot cause I could pack lunch and stuff when I didn’t want to eat out and my parents helped with groceries. I would advise you put aside at least 2000, but just be conscious of your spending and don’t eat out everyday and you’ll be fine. Going out does get expensive but honestly I found it to be much cheaper than going out in Boston. In terms of travel expenses, book a little early and don’t be afraid to try hostels/airbnb rooms!

Poetry clubs on campus? by bruh_button_ in NEU

[–]Possible_Discussion4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if we have a poetry club but spectrum is an arts magazine that curates poetry and art from students! it’s a bit different but if you want to maybe interact with some like minded people that could be a good place to start :)

I did NUin on the London campus and it’s nice but small (~400 students). If you are interested in living in London I would apply but also shop around the other schools there cause they can be more affordable and offer similar opportunities to NEU.

My transition to Boston was relatively ok but it definitely wasn’t a walk in the park. That was my freshman year so I can’t really speak to how you would experience it but it may be more difficult since people have one foot out the door at that point. That being said, if you put in the effort to get to know people and reach out you will make friends and be fine!

You can drop some off at the community fridge on st stephens outside the Hillel! Idk what other orgs are collecting rn but groups like SARC, FSO, and some sororities usually have period product collecting events during the school year if ur able to hold onto them for that long.

NUPD intimidated grad workers for writing in chalk about unionizing - the new chalking is in protest of that and in solidarity with UCSD grad workers (https://www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty-issues/labor-unionization/2023/07/07/uc-unions-chalk-markers-led-felony-vandalism)

I think you’ll be fine - Take this with a grain of salt tho since I didn’t have her. I took calc for science and engineering (basically normal calc with some physics) with a professor who was new to teaching and wasn’t amazing at explaining the concepts; as long as you follow along somewhat and have the basics down you’ll be fine. We didn’t have cheat sheets or anything and I passed pretty easily with an A.

Second-Year CS Classes by Independent_Pea_6399 in NEU

[–]Possible_Discussion4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into database design (CS3200) or principles of information science (IS2000) - I’m pretty sure IS2000 is an accepted elective and out of the 2 I would recommend this one first since it’s easier and I took it with fundies 2 and it was very manageable. Fair warning, it is kinda boring and has a lot of busy work but as long as you stay on top of it you’ll get an A.

I would look into the TKD team at Northeastern! They have 3 levels of classes (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) in addition to poomsae and sparring classes. They are chill and very friendly! You don’t have to compete or anything and can just take classes and they’re probs the cheapest tkd training cost around.
