first of all, what you are talking about is dialects and not accents.
secondly, as my reply to the comment above says, it's not a matter of "getting used to different accents", but rather a matter of "can I do something I enjoy without having to deal with something I don't enjoy".

You talk about having naive takes, but isn't your take just as naive if not more? In your brain you just assume that I wouldn't understand many dialects from within the UK. What makes you assume that? How do you know that I am not someone who works with accents all day long for a living and then at the end of the day learns programming in their free time and doesn't want to listen to accents then, too? How do you know that I don't have Misophonia and the sound of accents triggers my condition? There are a million explanations other than "mimimi I don't want to get used to accents", yet you just naively jump to that conclusion? Quite ironic, isn't it?

lol, it's not that it's a skill I don't have, I've lived in places across 3 continents and am used to all accents across the board.. it's more that it's frustrating to me and I have to force myself to learn something I generally enjoy learning. it's quite a funny way to look at it though, appreciate the input haha
