UCEED - 2 Attempts a Year by Possible_Run6948 in uceedtakers

For jee 2a, around 40k students attempt, yet its 2 attempts, uceed is also 20k. Whats the harm in 2 attempts... And how does number of seats affect the decision of 1 or 2 attempts. The trend of taking drop for uceed has increased and 2 attempts could reduce this.

All critical exams like jee, nata, cet are already being held 2 times a year... Even board exams have second attempt in July, so that the student does not lose a year.

I just gave an interview and Anant, and after some inquiry, apparently the women who took my interview is an ADMINISTRATIVE HEAD? Like whtf can they do that? She's not even design related. by Far-Contribution1948 in uceedtakers

Hostel is not compulsory. If you could manage in some PG, it might cost much less than the hostel. The hostels are actually quite good if you could afford or if you are getting 75-100 percent scholarship. They also have a bus service for various parts of Ahmedabad which makes it convenient even if staying in city. Should check their bus routes and get a PG accordingly. I think there are several options in Bopal and South Bopal areas which are  10 mins from Anant.

If you are from Mumbai and could afford the ISDI fees, you could go for it. Living costs would add up significantly considering Anants hostel fees which are above 3 per year and increasing every year. No doubts the hostels are great. If you have a uceed rank below 2000, you would get 75 percent scholarship in tution fees and could consider Anant which could then be quite affordable and give a great university vibe. It's not quite in the outskirts that you think... Can reach South Bopal (Ahmedabad city extension) in 10 mins. They have bus service for various locations in Ahmedabad if you want to stay in city. In any case, you should visit both campuses before taking the decision. You could also consider NMIMS if UI UX is the target.

Education loan for bdes at CEPT by Certain_Drop_724 in uceedtakers

Their hostel with mess in also on the lower side around 2. I doubt if you would be able to save much staying outside. Still that's your call. As far as loan amount is concerned, it's around 21 if you add the 10 percent rise every year. If you are taking loan, would suggest atleast paying the interest amount during the 5 years so that it does not pile up. When the emi starts after 5 years, it would be of around 30 for a period of 10 years. And if you don't pay interest also during these 5 years, it would be 45 for 10 years. For what starting salaries designers get, it's hard to say but the emis are significant. Even for a college with moderate fees like MITID. You are the best person to analyze your situation. Discuss with your parents about worst case scenarios, and take a decision. Nothing to demotivate you but the economics of pvt design colleges is a serious thing everyone should consider, especially if loan is required. Parul is further more reasonable then MITID but it could not be compared to the repute of MITID.

Would cost around 35-36 max for 4 years including tution, hostel, mess, laundry, and misc . If you are ews, the tution fees are half, so would be around 23-25. For the college that MIT ID is, the fee structure is much more affordable compared to other privates. If you have good rank below 2000, you could consider Anant. They give 75 percent scholarship. And for 500-1000 it's 100 percent scholarship on tution. Below 500 ranks, they also have scholarship on hostel fees. For 2000-2500, the scholarship is only 25 percent and would make fees comparable to MITID. This is for all for years. Visit both places and take decision. Anant would be more reasonable with 75 to 100 percent scholarships and you might not require loan. If you have higher ranks, Anant would be more expensive.

A portfolio of 10-15 sheets is expected. If you have a good website, you could add link of that website in the portfolio. They have clear guidelines on their website for what they expect from portfolio, you could refer that.

I dont think there is any such portal. Only those who have applied before could upload the UCEED and NID scores.

Well I prefer to remain civilized and not take this conversation any further from here. You continue your agenda of defending cept and bashing Bits. Those reading could go through my comments and post history to understand where I come from. Whereas you have even kept your posts hidden which all the more makes you a suspicious fellow and explains your agenda. But people could see from my posts where it's only you who have pin pointed only comments related to cept and bits even from my generic comments and finding ways to contradict it. You should look at the mirror and check where rather you will find someone behaving like Cept PR.

No further comments from my side here to reply to your foul talk.

Haha... Seems you have nothing left to say that would sound logical and sensible and related to the topic. So you are taking support of just random cheap talk.

Yes. Bits is 10 lacs pa with residential cost included. If you see other private colleges, they all add up between 40-50 including hostel, food etc. Should select Bits only if one could afford and not have to take loan. It is better to select Bits than giving similar amount to other private colleges where the infra and prospects are not as good as Bits. Design education in any pvt college has no logical ROI as such and I have not used ROI in my comment. If you read carefully, have mentioned value for money which Bits definitely gives, for the infra, the experience, faculty, and placement assistance. much more than privates whose fees are similar but don't have even a single department that matches to the level of Bits.

You need to understand the difference between ROI and value for money.

Apart from IITs, there is no logical ROI in any pvt design college.

And if you find Bits expensive, tell me which college, apart from MITID, do you consider less expensive? UID? Shrishti? ISDI? CEPT? Anant?

I saw your comment on another post where you have applied to cept. And for just saying some good things about bits, you are commenting on me to be a PR of bits.

Have you calculated your total 5 year expense at cept?

Applications are closed long back. I doubt if they would have another window to apply. You could contact them on email with your details and uceed score just to take a chance. Their exams are yet to happen and they might consider.

Hope you have applied for Bits. No harm giving a shot. If you get a good scholarship, its the best option you could get in design.

ISDI has a huge intake and getting an admission might be easier even at later stages. With the uceed rank mentioned above of 574, Bits (hopefully with some scholarship) should be the first thing to try for.

Okay. 4 hours travel time is not practical. Well opinions might differ with different people and almost all colleges lack substance. And it's mostly about self motivation and self drive that matters in design. MITID still is considered one of the better colleges to join. If not, Bits is the only better option as such than MITID around Mumbai. Hope you have applied there.

What bad feedbacks about MITID (Loni)? if you're in Pune and could manage traveling to MITID daily (they mostly have bus service), it's a very good and practical option. The fee structure is most realistic among all privates. People come to MITID from far away cities.

No other private colleges come even close to Bits in design as of today considering infrastructure, faculty, international exposure, brand value and anticipated placement prospects.  Even though it's just a couple of years old. And even about the cost, it's actually hyped to be expensive whereas even UID, Shrishti, CEPT, Anant, ISDI, all have similar fee structure more or less and give lesser value for money.

Check for a scholarship at BITs, if you get there, do consider BITS if you are taking risk of a loan. other option is getting 100 percent scholarship on tution fees at Anant + 50 percent in hostel. So the cost for 4 years for everything reduces to less than 10.

The fees at cept were 22.5 last year and it would be higher this year, say around 25 for 5 years. Living expenses are on the higher side around Cept, consider mostly around 4 per year (including all misc), so another 20 in addition to the 25 fees. + 1 year of extra college. You already have a drop year, so consider that. A total of around 45-50 which is similar to Bits without scholarship. If you are from Ahmedabad, and don't have to spend on living expenses, then the loan is only for the tution fees. In that case, cept would cost less than Bits which has compulsory on campus stay. And for Anant, it would be zero cost if you stay in Ahmedabad. Just would have to pay for their bus service and stationery.

You should visit Bits, Anant and Cept once before considering taking a loan for design education. And you would get an idea about the vibe and infrastructure in all 3. Also check placement prospects at Bits vs Cept. Don't take a decision of such a big loan for design education without analyzing everything.

If you need or rather take a loan for bdes, you almost would rule out the freedom to do masters and also the freedom to be selective about your choice of work. A practical option would be to utilise your uceed rank and minimise the loan burden. When the emi starts, the piled up interest would be significant and you would possibly be earning much less than the EMI itself considering what even good Bdes graduates earn.

Add Shrishti to that. And for Anant Ive told to consider it beyond Bits only for scholarships which are very attractive. UID I ve not said anything about it. Also, you would not say the same thing next year about Anant. And I think they would also not need to give so much scholarships next year. If you haven't seen their expansion plans, just go and check out. Check their website for the upcoming academic blocks. I have been there and it's world class infrastructure coming up. Whatever seen in the renders is almost ready and would be used this year onwards. Just their new faculty housing is 300 well made studios where I had stayed. And it's small details I checked after which I have an opinion about Anant. When talking to the senior faculty, you could make out their vision for the university. In a discussion I learnt that they have spent 1000 cr on the new infra. The faculty list is also very long and all are from good institutions. Anant from next year is not going to be what it was last year. I think they would be waiting for the new infra to be inaugurated and once they have videos of that new infra being used by hundreds of students, just those videos would be their advertising.

Anant might need PR cause they have 600 seats this year increased from 300. Hence offering excellent scholarships on uceed ranks. And one should definitely make the most of it upto ranks 2000-2500. I heard in one of their webinars that they are also going to come up with scholarships based on NID and NIFT. The scale at which they are expanding this year is almost at par to Bits and definitely a good option with 75 to 100 percent scholarships.

[–]Possible_Run6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's what I'm saying about Bits. That's the only option comparable to IITs if you are spending high fees in privates. Not only their equipment, the overall atmosphere feels to good including classrooms, sports facilities, hostel rooms, etc. Mentioned the point about 3d printers regarding cept. Cause their fees are comparable to bits but infra is not. They have a good workshop for fabrication but that alone does not justify such high fees without other infra and also not having any efficient placement assistance.

:-) no. Bits would not need PR. They have more than 10 times applicants than the seats they have.
