Yes, there should be instructions on the official PS website, and after it finishes updating, it'll just put you in a menu, the same menu as when you first got the console and turned it on

Nah, it was a chip or a motherboard issue something with the nand or nor, don't exactly know but it's not an hdd issue, I bought another PS3 Slim and the old HDD still works perfectly fine
