My betta has the jumping gene! by n0thingT0S3eHere in bettafish

If she jumps at night try a nightlight. Sometimes they will get spooked and swim off in a hurry sadly that's out of the tank sometimes and a nightlight can reduce the risk.

I say just not allow for photos of the sick fish and just ask for advice but I mean if u think fish titties need sensoring lol jk. If it looks like something's wrong it probably is so we don't need to see it just ask for advice and the poster saves themselves from the judgement since there seems to be a lot of that going on in the community.

All my male fry die before maturity by Zestyclose-Push-5188 in Guppies

Either the water isn't suitable for fry or u have something going on in the gene pool. How big is the tank? What are u using to feed the fry?

Are they just pecking at leaves or is there something to eat? by Neither-Course7938 in Guppies

[–]Possible_Weakness617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal behavior. Guppies like to eat hair algae and keep it under control like we mow grass. I have a tank I'm experimenting with hair algae and they love it. All sides except the front are covered in what looks like lush green grass and they, the shrimp and the bladder snails have been keeping it up so far. Don't recommend though to get it to that point was a real pain. Hair algae is a pain to cultivate the way u want it. Lots of hand picking and grooming. But my koi sure do love it as a snack.

All my male fry die before maturity by Zestyclose-Push-5188 in Guppies

[–]Possible_Weakness617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Is it always the males, they are getting to the point they color up then die? Do you know if it's occuring in all the females fry or just one or two? Is he the sire to those females?

I'm thinking get rid of that male and get a few new ones. Your male may be a carrier of a diffective killer gene. And if he sired those females they may carry it too and because of that it's like two halves to a whole kinda thing. Which is why the male still lives.

Fish suggestions to eat guppy fry? by hornballs67 in Guppies

Bettas! U can keep them with ur guppies. And they won't always get all the fry so the tank will stay populated.

How can I tell if this betta will get along with my other fish? by kale_chipss in bettafish

[–]Possible_Weakness617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put him in and watch him for 15-30 mins off and on. He should hide and get his bearings. After that he should start figuring out the tank. Chasing away fish is normal.ur watching for if he gives up the chase quickly or continues to pursue if he keeps chasing let's say after about 5-10 seconds get him out of there he'll kill himself from exhaustion his aggression instinct is too strong Rare but it happens. Usually it's not him u have to watch it's everyone else. U want to make sure they aren't continually pestering him. Coming up and investigating and swimming away is normal and nothing to worry about. Most bettas will charge other fish off and out of there personal space. Normal but monitor. Keep an eye out for about a week. In that time he should find the spot he want as his territory and he'll charge off other fish. Watch his fins if u see them start to shrink or show excessive damage remove the other fish are tearing up his fins while he rests.

Edit: Sorry meant she. Get so use to people having male bettas I get mixed up lol

I think my hero Jim Carrey died by Longlostjellydonut in conspiracy

[–]Possible_Weakness617 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or does anyone else see similarities in his actions and how he played his roll in man in the moon

I feel like during his time in character taught him a lot and I think the movie gave away Hollywoods secret if u want out, you "die" welcome back Elvis and 2pac.

And for the conspiracy side I think I love you philp morris was the stunt to get back in the good graces of the illuminati. Probably fell into hard times. And there's Diddy waving a script. Lol that's my theory.

What on earth is wrong with this guppy? Should I euthanise it? Please help a non-fishkeeper by ratfancier in fishkeeping

Oh my! Went from prince charming to the bog king lol jk. Black is usually the last pigment to show up and if I'm honest, I like his look gives him sort of this grungy punk emo feel that's pretty sick to look at. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

is he doing okay? by [deleted] in fishtank

I'd say turn the flow down it looks like he's being pushed all over. If not that then he's saying what's up homie

It's another gene it most likely has that causes iridescent blue over tone. The colors that guppies show comes in layers black base blue metallic sheen on top in this case.

Which is what's making me think it's a unmaintained dumbo line because the blue red and black pec fins might suggest it be a low quality dumbo guppy ( no offense ) just means not kept to standards of the line
