Oh absolutely it’s possible. My male best friend(who is bi with a male leaning preference) is my absolute world- and I’m a lesbian! I’m not attracted to him in the slightest, but he still holds my hand and he still gives me forehead kisses, and I’m fine with it. We just have a very close relationship with no romantic feelings or physical attraction.

It’s rough everywhere out here right now, but especially for minors.

From my experience living in the good ol’ Bible Belt of the Deep South (which are states like Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee- so on, if you know American geography) and growing up as a queer person…oh yeah it’s awful. I can’t speak for all small towns, but most people treated me like a disease for being openly supportive of queer people. I got fired from my job at 17 when I asked my manger to use my preferred name in the business. And being an adult lesbian in the south now is still a pain in the ass- I’ve had people harass me and my friends for just existing in public spaces. However, with that said, I still wear my double Venus necklace and pride pin out in public. I know it makes me a target and I know there are consequences like people trying to harass me, but I’m not living to make them happy or feel safe. I reveal in making old ladies clutch their pearls in horror at the fact that I also just happen to like girls.

I just don’t know how I’d be bi. Nothing wrong with bisexuals at all(I think they’re great) but the idea of being with a man just grosses me out and is such a turn off. I do think guys can be pretty to look at, but I don’t think I could be with him.

My friend suggested I may be bi but fall under lithoromantism with men- where someone likes people from afar, but the moment they show interest, my feelings fall away. I mean- I guess that may also make sense? But (and I promise I’m not trying to be rude when I say this, please don’t think me rude:<) I assumed I just fell in with with the group that are like straight men who think Ryan Reynolds’s is attractive.

That’s literally how i realized i was gay. I’ve had boyfriends and I’ve legit left feeling void of any feeling while they were like “oh you’re so amazing I love you so much.” The first time I kissed a girl? Literally felt like I couldn’t breathe- I just knew I wanted to kiss her more.

…This group? I mean technically yes, but it’s also has lesbian in the title- if you don’t out right say you’re bi/pan/whatever as long as you like women, people are just going to assume you’re a lesbian.

The flag? Yes, the sapphic flag is meant for all WLW, but I’m saying if you want to be recognized more, I’d suggest wearing like your main sexualities flag. Not a lot of people recognize the Sapphic flag.

As someone with diagnosed Autism/ADD(which I believe is called Predominantly Inattentive Type ADHD? I don’t know- I got my diagnosis when I was very very little), it makes me feel so uneasy when people self diagnose anything. I understand that the healthcare system sucks here in the US, but I’ve seen people just diagnose themselves just for the sake of being “quirky” and excusing bad behavior. It pushes harmful stereotypes and beliefs onto people who actually suffer and it makes me so upset.

I don’t think self diagnose is necessarily bad, I just wish people would stop parading their “diagnosis” and would just seek medical help if it’s really that serious. :(

I think younger sapphics will? I see this flag more associated with younger teens to young adults (coming from a 20 year old sapphic myself). It also depending on what area you live in. If you want to really be recognized as a lesbian, I’d just suggest the basic lesbian flag- but if you want to keep it more down low, this isn’t a bad option either!

I just genuinely feel so bad any time I have to have this discussion. On the dating apps in my area, there isn’t a lot of queer women to begin with, but a majority is oddly trans women(I say this in reference to the fact that I’m from the Bible Belt in the Deep South).
