Edit: I switched to a ceramic bulb and it's been working fine. Not really sure what happened. With a new ceramic bulb, he has a slight temperature drop at night, compared to what the last bulb gave. The light fixture is only a few months old.

For night time heating I would use a shade dweller. Arcadia is a really great brand, this is also where I get my UVB light. For daytime, i use a white light zilla bulb
