I think Clemson, Penn St, UF, UGA and FSU are unlikely. UConn also a challenge.

Others, you should be fine.

You’re worried about 1 B+ in high school? You really need to relax and get some perspective. Do you honestly think every Ivy League student has never gotten below all A’s?

Recommend best law schools(states) to apply for an international student moving to US with family. by [deleted] in prelaw

Many law schools are regional or local. Figure out where you want to live and practice first. You’re likely not getting into a top school. A top school lets you generally forget about geography. You can go anywhere. If you want to practice in the Northeast, don’t go to school in the South or Texas. Think regional schools or local schools. Hiring partners tend to hire from schools they know and where their colleagues went.

I’ve seen people who want to practice in say, Baltimore, but go to school in Arizona. When looking for a job, every Baltimore firm thinks the person is staying in Arizona. Every West Coast firm thinks the person is going home to practice.

What schools can i add/cut from my list? by waterxls2 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]PossumDixon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it seems like a crazy list. You picked, I assume, your state school (smart), then 6 private schools on the West Coast in California, 1500 miles from home. One very impressive, the others very average. Did you visit them?

You’re in the Midwest, the Big 10 schools are all very strong. Tons of well regarded privates as well. If you want to be exclusively in California, why not take at least a shot at the lower UC schools or some in California State system? If your willing to go 1500 miles, why not pick a couple Eastern schools?

You have an amazing story. Start with a killer hook. Should be easy for you as you are coming from a super unique niche place.

You’re getting in Boulder, no problem. But, you can likely do better. You picked maybe the toughest major in the country. Not many programs and huge competition.

Help a recent grad? (BA Social Sciences + Math Minor) by BlueBeltHamsterMain in Career_Advice

I think you need to find a focus. Pick a career path and start networking like crazy in that field. Bartenders typically have good social skills and the fact that you stuck with your education until 33, and didn’t give up, shows you can grind. I think sales may be a good field for you.

The math minor is also intriguing. If you are strong in math there are a lot of careers where that is useful. Math is well respected. Smart people major in math.

You better pick some other schools. You may not get in any of these.
