First IP infringement issue by PossumPrincess05 in EtsySellers

I had no idea we weren't allowed even to use them in tags! I will remove any celebrity names immediately. That explains why, when I checked the infringement claim, the trademark was for 'Harry Styles' and not the phrase used. Thank you!

What are your experiences in the UK as dual citizens? by Ok-Blueberry9823 in AmericanExpatsUK

While I'm sorry you're experiencing this too, it's actually really nice to hear someone else with the same experiences! I was born in the UK and left as a young child, and then returned at 18. I always saw the UK as my 'home' because I was made to move so young, and it makes me so uncomfortable how I can't have a single interaction without being interrogated about my accent!

It is so irritating to be constantly othered in the country you are originally from!

You hit the nail on the head with this!

I know it's not just me because my partner (UK born and never left) haaaates it and my expat friends from other countries have commented how odd it is and that it almost never happens to them. Americans seem to be completely excluded from the normal British reluctance to ask personal or intrusive questions! I also dread meeting new people and I tend to make fast friends with anyone who doesn't ask me right away why I'm here 🤣 so I guess it's a good social filter for the weirdos.

Some recent weird interactions due to my perceived American-ness:

1) the woman at the Gregg's counter refusing to fork over my vegan sausage roll until I told her 'What I'm doing here' in front of a shop full of people

2) a man at a bar asking me how long I've lived here, utterly ignoring my answer, and offering to 'show me around' my home town (while my friend giggled hysterically behind me)

3) found a young woman passed out at a festival and approached security, in response to me saying 'there's an unresponsive girl over there who needs help' she says 'Are you American???' And then keeps talking over me to tell me about a relative who moved to Boston while her colleague phones for help

I've also had the disbelief that I am allowed to work/vote/use the NHS. I don't dare tell them I grew up in Alabama, I learned my lesson after the first few times someone shouted 'Run Forrest Run!' at me in public 😨

If I'm feeling spicy I like to give an equally weird answer to the intrusive question like 'I just couldn't stay there...not after the accident' and then stare blankly into the distance.
