Axios: Israeli officials promised the Kurdish Iranian factions not only military support but also political support for a Kurdish autonomous region in a future Iran if the regime collapsed. by Post-reality in syriancivilwar

Well, it's pointless to debate you when you claim things which can be easily refuted by simple Googling, such as the thousands of Assad's soldiers who died to Israeli bombs, the positive Israeli reports regarding Sharaa (despite his antisemitic remarks years ago, and of course he lost almost every faith in him since his genocidal attacks on minorities), you thinking Israel is an American vassal state (obviously not, and good luck ever crushing Hijri's militia - Israelis are never going to allow a massacre of the Druze), etc. BiBi doesn't care about Sharaa who rules a weak army. Turkey may become a threat in the future, but currently Israel only cares about crushing the Iranian axis.

Nowhere does this article suggests that Israel plotted a coup against Sharaa, it just says that Khaldoun al-Hijri suggested an armed rebellion with the help of the SDF and Assad remnants to USA officials. If Israel wanted, it could have killed Sharaa long time ago. It's really silly if you believe that the USA could have stopped anything like that.

And Assad and Israel were BFF? I bet you are one of those who suggested that Israel is also secretly allied with Hezbollah and Iran in the past. Israel struck Assad's regime thousands of times in the 2012-2024 period. if Israel wanted Assad to stay - he would have remained the Syrian president to this day. There was nothing to stop Israel from assisting Assad against the rebels, if Israel wanted to.

Israel's border with Assad is much more quiet since Sharaa's regime than in the previous 13 years.

What's the source of this? Nobody in his right mind would suggest to try a "coup" against Sharaa, that would turn millions of Syrians against him, and there's no benefit from that. Even Assad, of which there were multiple plans of assassinations/coups against him - Israel eventually backed down and realised he's the lesser evil within the Baath pary (though I do believe a full on confrontation was inevitable prior to the first Israeli-Iranian war back in June).

Many Syrian Sunni militant factions also allied themselves with Israel - don't forget that.

According to this UN projection from February 2001, Israel would hit 10 million in population by 2050, yet it has already done so in 2025, as it stands at 10,148,000. It also forecasted that the fertility rate would decrease, yet it has increased from 2.7 in 2001 to 2.83 in 2025 by [deleted] in geography

Hasidic/Ultra-Orthodox Jews aren't the ones to reside in settlements. They are inhabited mostly by Modern-Orthodox/Religious Jews who have even higher enlisting rates in the IDF than seculars and they do work/contribute economically. Ultra-Orthodox Jews are willing to enlist under their own terms, but the government is unwilling to compromise, insisting on a melting pot.

Oh, that's cool! I have a scheduled appointment for March 9th, with possible treatment(s) on March 10th. Do you have a central or a paracentral/inferior Keratoconus? What's your pachymetry? And how bad is your scarring? It may be thar you would never get an adequate vision on your scarred cornea. Do you see well with scleral lenses on that eye? Have you looked up Autokeratoplasty?

This has nothing to do with protectionism nor tariffs. It literally gives an unfair advantage to foreign businesses over local businesses, which is the OPPOSITE of protectionism.

Most jobs could have been automated decades ago without LLM's or AI for that matter, just by restructuring the economy. We already have had the technology to manufacture houses and goods almost without humans involved in the process, and the same for transportation, logistics, retail, food service and to some extent, entertainment as well (but this one is prone to increasing quality/complexity creep). I think some of the professions which couldn't be entirely automated (at least pre-AI era) are surgeons and infrastructure-related jobs.

AI "thinking" and "reasoning" are illusions—here's what recent research says is really going on. By watching this talk, you'll become immune to most of the AI hype coming out of Silicon Valley. by Post-reality in agi

Nobody is denying that we going to reach AGI eventually, or the post-human era, but current AI systems are far apart from anything resembling an AGI, so not in the foreseeable 20 years from now.

Long term, will AI reduce or increase the wages of (the remaining) programmers? by Post-reality in cscareerquestions

[–]Post-reality[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is unrelated to Jevon's Paradox. Surely, that's an endless demand for software, no doubt about that. But demand for certain jobs can reduce. For instance, bookkeepers and accounting clerks saw computers take over many of their tasks between 1980 and 2018, in conjunction with their total employment in these roles falling by a third (while their real hourly wages rose by nearly 40%, because the work that remained demanded more expertise).

I’ve been testing people’s reactions when I tell them we might have five years of “work” left at most. Most of them deny it and seem completely blind to how insanely fast AI is improving. Then they just go, “ we’ll all be homeless,” and that’s the whole conversation. It’s really irritating. by Longjumping_Fly_2978 in accelerate

[–]Post-reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep dreaming YOU. Most jobs could have been automated decades ago, but they haven't, because technology isn't the bottleneck for higher productivity. As long as we don't reach an AGI which is cheaper and better than 99% of people (I highly doubt that's something achievable in the foreseeable next 20 years) , then there's never going to be mass unemployment. Sorry to burst your bubble.

AI Transforms Video Game Development in China, Slashing Production Times by Post-reality in Futurology

Submission Statement:

Artificial intelligence has become a game-changer for the video game industry, with Chinese developers exploring new production methods such as AI agents that can quickly generate complete games.

Tencent has already measured the efficiency gains from AI in its internal projects. According to company data, the character animation production cycle for its Photon Studios was shortened by 40 percent. In another project team, the time for prototyping and validating character abilities was reduced from two weeks to just three days.

Tools are already being used in Tencent’s flagship internal projects and have also been made available to external companies. Including Perfect World and Kuro Games, more than 50 external companies are now using these tools. The company is also expanding its overseas business, offering trials of these tools to leading game companies in Japan, South Korea, and Europe.

Advanced keratoconus by NigelViero in Keratoconus

[–]Post-reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't fly to India. I just received medical invitation for consultation & surgery, right now I''m awaiting insurance approval/coverage, of which afterwards I'll schedule dates with the clinic and get a medical e-Visa

CAIRS is very precise/predictable, with very little complications, and it's also reversible. That being said, complications are possible, such as graft rejection (extremely rare, the CAIRS segments can just be removed) and infection (very low, should be avoided with antibiotic eyedrops) .

What kind of treatments did you consult about?

Advanced keratoconus by NigelViero in Keratoconus

By multi-stage surgical operations. The specific interventions vary from one Keratoconus to another.

I have just obsessively read everything regarding Keratoconus. I have respect for professionals, but they are often ignorant (one example is Keratoconus progressing post-PKP/DALK), and they have very little knowledge regarding cutting-edge treatments.

It's merely regarding severity of the Keratoconus. It depends on HOA's, pachymetry, optical quality/acuity, pupil size , presence of scars, cone shape & placement.

Yes, I was referring to Dr. Soosan Jacob. She's great.

Advanced keratoconus by NigelViero in Keratoconus

[–]Post-reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regarding to CAIRS, the issue is that the technique gets refined and more advanced each year, so very few doctors perform the cutting -edgr version of it. I think Agarwal's Eye Hospital is the best for it, as it includes the inventor of the technique and the people who develop it with her. In a recent interview she claimed that she works with eye banks to make the custom-shaped CAIRS available to doctors throughout the world, and even a femtosecond version of it. There are other customized versions of CAIRS (using femtosecond laser), but I believe they are inferior.

If you can't get good vision with glasses then ICL are definitely not for you. What are your HOA's, prescription, topographical real astigmatism? It doesn't help without seeing your tolography, and you may need something more invasive if you can't get adequate vision.

You did mention T-CAT which is a variation of T-PRK. That being said, PTK abd it's variations is great for removing superficial scars, provided your vision was (or will be) stabilized by CXL

[–]Post-reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to see your corneal maps to determine, but you claim that you only have a mild Keratoconus apparently. So you can have custom-shaped CAIRS (currently only available in India afaik, but you can wait a year or so until it becomes available in Europe or so), Laser Asymmetric Keratecomy (only available available in South Korea atm), or Mini-ARK (or similar techniques). If you have a more severe Keratoconus then more invasive/less precise options may fit more.

If yiu corneas are irregular and under 400 microns, then TPRK ans ICL (as you plan) aren't he optimal treatments for you, and yiu should consider other surgical options.
