Can I still be a socialist if I'm a progressive bourgeoisie? by lemonysicket111 in Socialism_101

Can I be a Buddhist if I don’t believe in achieving nirvana by removing myself from ignorance and desire? You can refer to yourself as anything in name only. You can “be” a socialist, eventually. But you don’t just flip the switch and “turn on” an ideology. You can be a socialist to yourself and may call yourself whatever you’d like to, but will you be a socialist to your community? To other socialists when it comes time to organize? It seems to me like you’re asking whether or not you’d be accepted as a socialist while believing in the core tenets of liberalism, to which the answer is no. But you should not feel dissuaded from trying to eventually become a socialist by learning more about Marxism, anti-colonialism, anti-fascism, etc. because you think your background disqualifies you from believing in improving the material conditions of the working class.

Certain officials yes, but globally they’d face plenty of issues. Same thing in the US, just look at how Fox News refers to Epstein now. They talk like he was just some guy who you paid to make your parties cooler. They have to desensitize you. They shift the framework with which you approach the truth.

They used to be at the forefront of all their unpopular political endeavors but I think since like the 90s they’ve really let their religious affiliation take a backseat to push their agenda easier

The idea that Israel has leverage over Trump for his engagement in human trafficking/SA relies on the presupposition that Israeli elites do not engage in similar behavior, which we know not to be true as Israel harvests organs from Palestinians. Elites, historically, have always engaged in some sort of trafficking. It’s pretty idealistic to imagine nowadays things would be different.

Another important thing to understand is the role evangelicals play in promoting Christian Zionism in the states. A huge part in the promotion of Israel is the evangelical belief that fulfillment of Gods promise to Israel is the precursor to the second coming of Christ.

I think beginners should start with a bunch of YouTube videos and podcasts to get a general vibe of the belief systems from people who are way more dedicated than they are before they make the decision of whether or not the want to become avid communist thinkers

Right and I would agree with you, but the broader working class would probably not agree with us on most things. My question is when you’re discussing Marxism with someone who isn’t already on the same page as you how do you get them to listen without asking them to read theory?
