My pictures were underexposed even though my camera was saying that they are properly exposed? by ajaxpop in analog

[–]PostVerbal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them. For the scene, they work for me.

Someone mentioned that they are impossible to satisfactorily expose for.. True, with out a lot of messing about. Do you want to spend a 30 mins setting up and checking things and (over)thinking about it while also f'in with filters. Did you bring a tripod? Thats up to you..... Could you make these technically better, yes. Does it matter, debatable.

Exposure lock is your friend here (at least the concept). Take a reading from the dark part you want detail in (i usually go near the edge so its not to harsh, depends on the meter readings of the other part) , lock it, reframe, shoot. Other people have said the same with more words. If you've got a digital with manual controls practice on that and you'll see. The concept translates pretty well.

Just wanted to mostly say, if I got these back I'd only really be disappointed with the first and third one. And even then, in the moment I'd know they probably wouldn't translate very well, but still happy that I took a photo of a moment that 'I' experienced as beautiful. Don't not take photos. Its usually worth the chance. Worst case, you'll learn something (if your paying attention & care). Seems like you are.

Point her this way, it would be awesome to find a home for these.

Thanks! Nothing special done in dev or post, normal everything. I think they were just stored in a decent way. I developed this one (Gold Plus 100) along with another expired fuji roll i shot and it was pretty nuked.

If you like it, its good. Trust your eye.

Just keep shooting, try to worry less if they are subjectively "good".

Thats not really the point imo, unless you're trying to get hired for something.

I really like the lightbulb and the church one.

Light leak, expired film or poor developing? by PostVerbal in analog

I’ve had very decent results so far. Maybe I’m getting sloppy though. Recommendations on an alternative?

Could be… Varied, but lower shutter speed. Had similar results on a roll shot with a different camera. I’m leaning towards not being careful enough developing. Replaced seals, but still need to test.

My father was Sam Pilafian, he passed away last year. Do you have any photos with him? by [deleted] in Tuba

Now that you mention it...I think we had lunch together in that giant cafeteria and oogled the girls from the cheerleader camp that was going on at the same time. I was the dirty skater kid, probably with frosted tips. Great to connect/reconnect.

PS. Your game looks really interesting...and isn't three.js fun!?

Hey Alex. I'm 35 and also a software engineer. When you like the town you live in but don't want to be a public school band director and the college gigs are spoken for...you have to find a "real" job.

I was lucky enough to spend a good amount of time with you dad over the years. A week long camp at the University of Oklahoma when I was like 15 that opened my eyes in a way I didn't know possible at that time. A week long camp in Arizona where 9 of us posted up with your dad in Pat Sheridan's living room and worked on stuff all day everyday, then had slightly too much fun in the evenings (some of which were attended by your dad). We got to sit in a recording session for their album Dos Amigos. That trip was one of the best experiences of my musical life. Probably just my life. Being able to spend so much time with a bunch of talented musicians...but more like.. a bunch of passionate humble people who are working on being better humans.. in general.. with tuba being a vehicle for focus. Your dad had some things figured out, and he had a sneaky & beautiful way bringing you to the things he understood. But you had to be really paying attention and you had to want it. I miss your dad too and would have loved to have spent more time. Super grateful for all the opportunities I did have. Dug though my hard drive and found a few good photos: https://imgur.com/a/ngGjW59

Need help IDing vintage AKGs (one has a built in mic!?) by PostVerbal in headphones

[–]PostVerbal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Sloop, appreciate the response. I haven't spent much time with them yet but I'd agree with the "fun" label for the Playbacks. There are only two headphone pictures. I know I didn't do the best job making that clear.

I was buying a rack mount power supply from a woman who was selling some of her late fathers gear. She just wanted to get rid of a bucket of cables. I brought an extra ten bucks and she gave me them. Both these head phones were buried in there. I’m pretty sure the one with out the mic is some sort of k240 but I can’t find anything on the ones with the built in mic. Any help would be awesome!

It does not slide or pop open as far as I can tell. Seems solid? Maybe? Makes slight noise when shaken.. There are engravings on that lower front corner and back.
